It's not been bad...but not even good either.
Very average.

I would also add putting the opposing offense in 2nd and 3rd passing downs is important. Or control the run game.

Yes but also in the reverse, alot of sacks can be attributed to excellent downfield coverage and the QB having nowhere to throw.

Was that his John Madden "duh" moment? our rush has sucked. pressure has only come on blitzes and even then UT struggles to get pressure. They get virtually nothing out of the down linemen.
A QB with no time rarely is successful.

I've never denied Meyer's coaching prowess, he just strikes me as really cruddy person..

The receiver always has an advantage, they know what direction they're running before the ball is snapped. Pressure helps knock timing off

I have often heard that the best DBs can keep good coverage for 2-2.5 seconds. After that, coverage breaks down. So the pass rush should be putting pressure during that time or someone will come open.

If you can get a rush with four people, then you get to play 7 on 4 or 5 defensively. If you can't and you start having to commit extra defenders then your life gets much harder. Giants vs Pats Superbowl is a great example of this. The Giants had a good enough rush that they could jump the short stuff and then leave extra defenders over the top. They isn't possible if you have to blitz extra defenders to get a rush.

I think it is closer to 60/40. If you can't cover the receivers the pass rush never gets to the QB.
