I've noticed quite a few people on here from upper East Tennessee. If you live anywhere from Bristol to Greeneville sign in and give a little info about yourself.

I'm was born in Elizabethton, graduated Elizabethton High class of '66. I attended ETSU for one year. I joined the AF in 1969 and spent just over 21 years in the military serving two overseas tours-18 months in Okinawa and 4 years in England.
Currently live in northern VA for the last 18 years and have worked for the Federal Government for almost 8 years. I'm looking to relocate south where it's cheaper to live.
Favorite sports teams: Atlanta Braves, Vols, Colts!
Other sports: NASCAR-favorite driver-#24!
Hope to see more of you on the board.

I was born in Bristol and atttended Tenn. High, played def. end in football. Two years at ETSU & two years at UT. Majored in Marketing/Bus. Mgmnt. Moved to Ohio for first job out of school at a snowmobile, motorcycle, go-kart, dune buggy manufacturer. Much fun, company didn't last, became Mfg Rep for several motorcycle accessory companies. Then worked for a marine engine builder, another fun job traveling around N. America, company sold & downsized. Came back to Tenn. and helped start a couple or three businesses, ran a race track, put on a couple rock concerts, and finally opened a business in 1988 that I just retired from last June. All the time was attending UT football games as my parents have had season tickets since around 1962. Went to my first game in 1959 as a 10 year old. Was involved in motorcycle racing & motorsports most all my life. Will be celebrating 38 years of mostly happy life partnership this Thursday the 27th. I am amazed every day she still puts up with me.

Most of my dad's family lives in Elizabethton and Johnson City. My dad graduated from Hampton High, not sure what year, maybe '74ish. He went to Milligan, ETSU, and UT. I visit Elizabethton 4 or 5 times a year or so to see the grandparents. I love it up there. Volsguy, I have a feeling I wouldn't like going to ETSU either.

Also, since I like to brag, Carter County was named after my family. Landon and John Carter are my Great Great etc. Grandfathers. I should be able to inherit Carter County I think. Or at least Carter Mansion.

Every relative I have, save one brother, lives in the finger. My parents were both born and raised in Elizabethton/Blue Springs area before moving away. When I was a kid, we used to go there for vacation twice a year, every year until I was about 16 or so. I love that area. My parents have retired there and most of my brothers and my sister have moved down there too. Wish I were there. I haven't been back in a while. I miss it.

I wonder if there is any relation to the Carter Family of S. W. Virginia that June Carter Cash is from?

i have a good friend that is related to that Carter family.

As for the Carter County Carters, there name goes all the way back to colonial times. Not saying they aren't related, just saying.

by the way, i'm born and bred in JC/Jonesborough. Went to Daniel Boone. Pretty sure I'm from the only school with the nickname "bars".

This summer on my midwest tour with my internship when everyone asked about my HS, they would always laugh and ask "and i suppose davy crockett was your rival?" and i'd just say actually, yes, I grew up about 10 minutes from his birthplace.

My business partner's wife was a Carter related to A.P. Carter.
