I think he was in theory, but I also think that anytime you poach another big time DC from a big school, you have to give ability to let that person bring his own guys.

It just seemed like a weird marriage

Why wouldn't he be? I know our message board brothers get irritated with him at times, including myself, but he's progressively improved our scoring defense each of the 4 years he's been here. How many DCs in the country can say their defense has gotten better year-after-year for 4 consecutive years? It's one of the most impressive feats I can recall from a DC. Some of y'all forget how gutted Tennessee's roster was when these guys arrived. It isn't easy to flip a roster. We had undersized safeties playing cornerback up until this year. I was PISSED that we had LBs attempting to cover Jeremiah Smith. My throat STILL hurts from screaming at him in Columbus. But, overall, Tim Banks has done a superb job.

That was a weird one though. He was pretty good at his next stop and good before he was here.

Those improvements were based off of games against the vandy's, ky's, and the Chattanooga's. How did he do facing the Dawgs, Bama, gators and the buckeyes. It's easier to out muscle an inferior OL, but you better change your scheme when you face an OL that has equal talent. This is where Banks needs to work on his game.

The defense made great strides this year. I like what Banks and the defense were able to accomplish this year, but we need to continue to improve the depth. In addition to the DL play and overall talent upgrade, they were also helped by slowing down the offense and the rule change regarding a running clock.

Defense has improved every year and was good enough for us to compete against anyone. The offense on the other hand needs dramatic changes

He and Jay Graham came over to Nashville in July after he was hired. We brought them over to talk ball with a group (maybe 50 us). Sunseri starts off ny saying Alabama didn't know how to play defense until he got there. My immediate reaction was "Oh crap, we have us a real dud here". I asked Jay later if he was serious and Jay just grinned and shook his head.. Sal was a major clown..

OSU and TX has a great DL. UGA has had great DL. You cannot look at the numbers and say he isn’t elite. He brought us from 90th in total defense to 8th nationally. That’s elite.

He just needs a few more pieces to plug and play . He’s done a really good thing from where he was when he got here until now.
