If he couldn't beat out Pendleton,he was never going to make it here
Pendleton is an average center. That might be generous. He's better suited for guard.
He can always get better and should this off season.

My first thought as well. Maybe 4-5 senior starters. I understood why this years senior class was small, but am at a loss for why next year is so small.

No. One more year, I think. So that puts our cap at 103 instead of 105. So it doesn't matter anymore.

You can see the attrition in junior and senior classes due to portal moves. That is why Tennessee needs to amp up their portal involvement like other successful teams are doing now- aka Indiana and Ole Piss. If a kid is not playing they are leaving. Looking at our senior and junior classes there are not a lot of contributors in those classes. I believe Tennessee needs to re evaluate their approach regarding portal and I know they know this as our defense was just god awful at the end of the season. Hopefully they can get a portal qb in here too.

There are also various dings in visits and recruiting days and whatnot which don't help.

Geesh..Lot of work in portal. Hope it is a good one. Do we have a GM type that manages this portal and NIL money? Might want to look at that. Some schools seem to really be far ahead regarding advanced scouting and targeting portal transfers.

That actually gets exacerbated by the fact your portal replacements, even the upper class guys, have zero experience in your schemes upon arrival.

Gotta get lucky with immediate meshing. It can happen, or not.

Why we need a seasoned GM, because Heupel can't manage a roster. We shouldn't have a young roster two years in a row, in year 6 of a rebuild.
