Update to Wilcox Rumor

Sorry Mods but didn't want people to have to shuffle through 13+ pages in the other thread...

Just talked to my buddy who is a starter on the team and he has asked around and no one has heard anything about a meeting today... He says they have one tomorrow morning, but that is normal. He did say however, that the rumor amongst players is Wilcox to Arizona State. If that happens he will take Sirmon with him.

I was hesitant to believe this rumor when it broke this morning b/c Sirmon has been on the recruiting trail talking with recruits the past two days and is scheduled for more stops this week and early next week as well.

We aren't out of the woods yet as we all know anything can happen with this program, but I feel a little better about the situation after hearing there isn't a meeting today with the players.

I hope this just got blown out of proportion and everything will be fine, but I guess we will know more tomorrow morning for sure. I will keep updating as I hear more. GBO

Other than him being a west coast guy, I can see no reason to go to a program like Arizona State. The difference in resources he will have available to him at each school is not even close.

If true, I wonder if Sirmon would go if we offered him the DC position? Of course if Lance got passed over again it might annoy him.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully with the reports that Mora and Martz have interest in ASU, Wilcox will be lower on the list.

Considering we have posters on here who actually work in the UTAD, I'd take their word first.

And tomorrow.... some of these goobs will still listen to Basillio and believe what he says as if it came from the mouth of the good Lord Himself.

This is a false rumor. Neither Wilcox, Sirmon, nor Thompson are going anywhere.

Can I borrow your crystal ball? Silly season has just started. I doubt if any of them actually know what the future holds for atp.

I can't remember if you're one of the "in the know" guys on here or not. How confident are you of this, or is it just your gut feeling?

i think its official. silly season is in full swing. started with ccb.

things are about to get real interesting. i see a couple of nice raises for some defensive coaches coming up.

As of today 12/1/11 I have no doubt that Wilcox, Sirmon, Thompson are not going anywhere.

If Peterson accepts another job and calls Wilcox, I think all this could change. Same thing if Thompson gets another offer. It's always easy to say "well when I said they were not leaving they did not have THAT offer".

I know you have good info, man. But, you honestly believe that Thompson won't go to UAB as a HC if offered and Wilcox won't entertain other offers. Hell, Hubbs even said that they would.

I would think it's hard to justify raises on a losing footbal team. Not saying they would not do it, as nothing with this program shocks me anymore.

Maybe in 2012 we can let other teams just score in 1 play drives and when it is 35-0 then let them run the clock as they take it 4 yards/carry on run plays. Shorten the game and the defense may end up rated in the top 10. In 2013, Highest paid defensive coaching staff on a 0-12 team.
