If the Summit mentioned is Tyler (Pat's son), I have absolutely no problem with letting him walk on. With all Coach Summit has done for the University and the WBBall program, I think it's a great thing to let him walk on and be a part of the program.

Now if he is taking up a scholarship and takes minutes away from someone more deserving simply because his last name is Summit, that I have a problem with.

Not a joke. He's on the team as a walk-on. He was a practice player for the Lady Vols last year. He also played in the Rocky Top League. I don't have a problem with it.

A little favoritism is healthy ... just not to much.

Guys, Summitt is just a practice player for the men. He won't ever see the court unless it's a game against UNC-Asheville

I think Pat asked for a favor so that her son could get exposure to coaching and prep for moving in that direction. I swear I can remember reading something like that in the past, and I'm sure neither Bruce or Tyler have any real expectations about him playing.

God you guys really have such a huge problem with him walking on? His mother has built an entire women's athletic department by herself basically.

No one cares about women's sports.

So you don't even acknowledge all of those national championships, the positive publicity, having the winning-est coach in basketball, and the money generated from Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols?

No. And I'd like to see how much money the women's athletic department generates.

For more than a few years our women's BB attendance topped the men's. You may want to rethink your statement.

Outside of Connecticut and Knoxville, no one cares about women's sports. I'm just saying having a family member build a supposed women's basketball empire does not mean you should be walking-on with Tennessee. His skills are no where near good enough to warrant the spot.

Don't worry about Tyler Summit. He's going to be the next Quinn Cannington (not a jab at Quinn, just comparing minutes played haha).

Quinn Cannington is 10x the player Tyler Summit will ever be - and that's not sarcasm.

That may be....I don't really know, I don't know how you know. I'm just saying that Summitt will play minimal minutes....you know, the final 35 seconds of the first few games of the season.

I hope not for his sake - he will find a way to embarrass himself badly in those 35 seconds I'm sure.
