KNOXVILLE (AP) -- Tennessee cornerback Inky Johnson is no longer playing football.
Coach Phillip Fulmer says Thursday that Johnson can't play because of the injury he suffered last season.

Hate to hear that about him. Wish him good luck in other areas of life.

Not sure if anyone ever mentioned it, but that injury probably does not happen with proper tackling. If my memory serves me right. Defintely not piling on Inky, more of a problem with coaches not emphasizing proper techniques enough.

And did you know that Florida beat OSU for the national championship?:shades:

Consider the date on the article. I really doubt that he posted a link 4 months ago to a comment CPF made yesterday. But I've been wrong before...

So I pm'ed Freak and he created a thread dated 10-10-06 with a page of comments from other posters?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

I don't know. Everyone always praised Inky for laying the wood, even though he was smaller guy. I can't remember the play that well, but I think Inky may have been trying to deliver a big hit to cause a drop. I think it was just a freak accident.

Still, most UT defenders could use better tackling technique.

I think that you are missing the point. The article has new information (such a a CPF quote) that the old article did not. I think that your point is that this was known months ago...but their point is that while it was known that football was out for him...this article is a new article, so you couldn't have posted it 4 months ago.

....

I believe he led with his head in a weird kind of way. Hindsight is 20/20 and I cannot realistically say I have that hit memorized. But I do not think it was a very good tackle in respect to technique. Freak accidents are more prone to happen when doing something incorrectly.

He was flying at the guy so sometimes technique breaks down and things happen. I think he is a guy we should keep in our thoughts and welcome the updates on his progress.

I think you missed my point.

I started a thread on 10-10-06 that Inky Johnson's career at UT was over and now another thread covering the same material was started today.

I would like to know how his additional surgury at the Mayo Clinic went, but that info isn't mentioned.

Inky has always tackled that way, flying around laying the wood... check Jasongivm6's avatar and you'll see what I mean.

That was posted about 4 months ago. Most people were more concerned about whether he would gain full use of his arm again.

OK, but when you said "that was posted 4 months ago"...it made it seem like you were talking about the article. Perhaps I did miss your point, but it seems like the better question/statement would have been...do they have nothing new to write 4 months later, because I posted pretty much the same article 4 months ago. It just seemed like you guys were going back and forth , getting nowhere.

Im pretty sure that avatar is Antwan Stewart. Anyways best of luck to Inky. He has a great attitude, and he will be successful in life off the football field for sure.

The huge hit dealt to Jeff Smardjiza was definitely Inky.
