Forgive me if someone else has posted this.

Electric Ballroom Fight

My first question is: what in the hell are the players doing out partying at 2 am during the week before the SECCG?

:withstupid:

Well, I'm not sure how much of this is truth... I'm sure it's PARTLY true, but those frat guys are talking about 20 players? Yeah right... and my first thought was that it was all 2nd and 3rd stringers, but Schaeffer's name was mentioned.

I think there should have been a curfew for the whole week leading up to the game.Ya gotta remember these are just kids and kids want to have fun.

I'm sure 90% of that is BS...Phi Sigs are racist assholes and im sure that they started the whole thing and deserved whatever they got.

I don't know anything about the place. Is it a gay hang-out?The name sounds a little like it.

Damn skippy. And college kids having fun at 2 am at the Electric Ballroom doesn't mean popcorn and sodas. I don't care if it's FOURTH-stringers, it's unaccpetable to have a team of sleep-deprived guys trying to fight off a hangover in time for Wednesday's practice. Nice mental preparation for the biggest game of the season.

Maybe they've already given up, too.

Primarily gay club, but they do have occasional concerts, private parties, raves, etc.

Used to be more of a concert venue when I was in school.

I don't know, but if I was Fulmer, I'd make 'em feel like they were last night after the reaming I'd give.

I wonder how many Auburn players are out until 2 this week? My guess would be not many, but who knows. Maybe the Vols are going to dance them to death at the SECCG. :shakehead:

A few frat boy comments that make you go, "hmm?"...........

Ellis and Gray, members of Phi Beta Sigma, admitted by their comments that they prejudged the athletes.....

Ellis said. ''Nobody was doing anything wrong. Everything was going perfectly smoothly until THEY came in.''

''You could just tell there was a bad climate in the air when BROOKS came into the club,'' Ellis said.

'' Â… The bad thing is that my fraternity brothers tell me he's one of those guys who never even plays.''

Ellis said the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday during a fraternity party at the Electric Ballroom.... and then he said... "I'm ... involved in campus ministries." was he preaching at the night club at 2 am?

Aaron Gray, a Phi Beta Sigma fraternity member, said he was surprised at the number of football players out at the club. ''Several people commented how stupid it was for THEM to be there,'' Gray said.

--------------

Hey, I'm not trying to defend the players... but its obvious that these guys have a chip on their shoulder regarding athletes.

When I was in school at UT, you could find guys that especially when they were drunk, wanted to take on a football player to 'prove their manhood'.

Also, funny how the frat boys were the ones pepper sprayed and escorted from the club.... not the football players.

I definitely think that the blame has to lie with the coaching staff on this one. I think that a curfew for the entire week leading up to the SEC Championship is a reasonable request. :yikes: :yikes:

Fulmer has to finally realize that he's dealing with 18-21 year old boys and they need hard nose discipline. I can't wait for ESPN to get their hands on this story - the guys at College GameDay will have a field day with this. I wonder if the point spread will get even larger after this?

Well, win or lose I will be there rooting them on! I hope that many of you will be there, too!

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree, I don't think the coaching staff needs to hold their hands everywhere they go. I don't think the players should have to ask permission every time they go to the bathroom. You are right... they are 18-21 years old.... they are old enough to vote and go to war... they should be expected to show enough maturity to not put themselves in bad situations.... and if they do break the rules then they will suffer the consequences just like everybody else who breaks the rules.

AV, point taken -- you have to put some responsibility on the players. The coaches can't look after them at all times. But, the players ought to be told that behavior like this is unaccpetable. I also think that the players need to understand the importance of this game and get prepared -- both mentally and physically.

I know they're 18 years old, and we were all 18 once. But I knew not to go out partying before Organic Chemistry finals. There's a time and a place, and maybe Saturday night in Atlanta would have been a better choice to celebrate. . . . .AFTER a win.

BLAME?? I hate that word....one of the all time most common "bammerisms". IMO, the bottom line is that we have a bunch of college age kids that unfortunately make college age kid decisions from time to time. This stuff happens EVERYWHERE (even happens at Vandy FCOL). I am not making excuses for these kids, but dammit, can none of you guys remember being out at a bar on reading night? Boys will be boys and CPF will do what he always does...deal with it.

Unless someone has posted it somewhere, none of the players that were out at 2 am are expected to play or contribute significantly this Saturday? I mean, including walk-ons and practice players... there are over 100 guys on the team??

Ray Lewis and P Diddy might argue with you on that point.

My sentiments exaclty.

CPF will sort it all out and deal with it accordingly.

True. But we've never prepared to play for an SEC championship.
