Here's a article which explains the corporate machinations behind the dispute between the university and those camouflage-sporting clowns. Distilled down to 50-75 words, it's basically this: guy leaves Vol Network in dispute; guy buys another company to get back into UT-related marketing; guy buys a merchandising company posing as a fan club (the BOA) and uses its trademark agreements with UT to aggressively sell corporate sponsorships allowing companies to use UT's trademarks without paying UT anything. UT is pissed. Hamilton hates "Ft. Neyland" moniker.

I don't think it's been posted. If not, it's worth reading.

The Ft. Neyland thing is stupid but, I think the business model (with the military theme) is a smart one (Volnation to a way is like that with VN Guru's and such) and as long as they aren't using University of Tennessee trademarked material then what's the big deal.

I'm no lawyer so that's more of a out right question rather than a retorical.

Hopefully "Big Orange Army" gets buried in court. I can't stand these idiots especially since they would whore out a stadium to turn a buck. You don't make up your nickname.

The quicker they are gone the better

Wonder what their memebership numbers are? If their head is above water they must not be too bad. I also think their whole idea would suit pro teams better than college teams, well at least one's with such a tradition behind it.

BOA is the epitome of manipulative evil.

They suck and are a nuisance to Vol Fans everywhere.

I've heard of them and the Ft. Neyland thing on here. I didn't know they were pissing off people at this kind of rate. I'm not really up to date with all of this being in NC.

When you are approached by multiple BOA 'members' with free 'Ft Neyland' posters, and asked to buy their merch, they become annoying. Driving into the city you see their billboard for 'Ft Neyland' and it looks like they are trying to turn our Football history into a (expletive) cartoon.

I hate the BOA.

They are whoring out a fanbase and a tradition. Piss on them.

If you were here all the time, you would hate them too. Their little orange army helmets are annoying and the entire mission is idiotic.

Okay yeah that's pretty crappy. I thought it was some kind of goofy fan club or something. I didn't know they was pimping out selling gear and such.

Even with that said, I like that business model.

Their little orange jeep is sickening. The fact that people join this makes me want to puke.

Well if you (students) can get enough people to counter act their crap it seems like they would have not other choice than to pack it up.

The business model would be fine... somewhere else.

Well, that's just it. It sounds like this Jamison guy originally signed some licensing agreements with UT to sell merchandise, etc. under the guise of a fan organization. And then "Action Sports Media" bought them out and started overstepping those agreements and using UT's trademarked material in ways they weren't supposed to (in UT's opinion).

A bunch of corporate shuffling about, for sure. All I know is that those BOA guys were tiresome and obnoxious to begin with, and I want my alma mater to get the maximum licensing money possible. I hope UT crushes them in court.

The stupid tank sitting out front makes me want to blow it up.

When I did come down for the SC game I saw that and thought, 'What the hell is that". (That being if your talking about the one on the strip) Is that the BOA store or something?
