Under the Radar: Jauan Jennings

I think you could see he wasn't as smooth as most top recvr's but in the short time he spent at that position I think it's amazing how well he did. With a year in maybe he will take a big step and become a reliable target for Dobbs. He's great on ST's, could be a decent QB, would prob be a starter at safety, and is a good WR too. Like someone said he is just a football player. No doubt he is very athletic and plays with an attitude.

Was it the NW game where he flat backed the defender he was blocking on the sideline and got flagged?
Plum nasty!

yeah, it was, I'd love to see him at safety! Dude has a safeties attitude!

Jennings has grit. Reminds me of the Vols from days gone by, Al Wilson, etc, he plays with an attitude. Now sometimes he can be a little over zealous, but I''l take it. With more time he will just contribute more and more! He will be in that crowd of beloved Vols wen he leaves UT, people like, Travis Stephens, Tony Thompson, Larry Seivers, and so many more. Actually, I think that JJ will have a pro career. If we didn't need him at WR, he'd be one of the top three safeties in the SEC, I believe that! Reminds me of Deon Grant!

If he were that talented, i don't believe he would be on offense.

Hes physical and long and fast, but I don't believe he would beat out our top 3 safeties.

Hearing almost nothing about Jauan this offseason. I think, if his meniscus is healing well, Mr. Jennings could break out in 2016.

With PW, Malone, and Jennings, I feel like we HAVE to get over the "down-the-field" hump this year.

Also George, Smith and Byrd.

There are certain guys that are just "football players". He's a "football player", he's the guy every coach wants. I have high expectations for him going forward.

a bigger hines ward type. i fully expect him to make the league on physical ability and find a niche

CBJ has really been talking up Jennings this year. I'm assuming that was before he got hurt...I think late in Spring Training.

Tyler Byrd will jump Jennings on the depth chart at WR by midseason or before.

NO WAY!!! JJ is a beast & if anyone gets jumped on the wide receiver roster, it will be Malone, if he still doesn't get it together.

Both Josh's if they don't go get the ball more aggressively when given the opportunity could very well find themselves watching younger guys playing in front of them. I don't see the run pass percentage changing a whole lot, we'll still be a slightly run heavy team but our receivers all of them need to be VERY aggressive when they know we are going to put the ball in the air.

He often turned short screens that gained 2-3 into 5-6 yarders by crashing and dragging CBs/LBs. Very physical player.

Yes way! Jennings in my opinion would have been a better safety. I think Butch should have switched him last season.

Have you seen some of the hits Jennings put on people in the return game from last season? He would be a better weapon on defense if you ask me.

He may would've been a better safety, idk but for him to only go thru fall camp at WR and come into the sec and just not get completely embarrassed proves he can be very good with some time there.

You have a guy that has more "want to" than prob anybody on the team and we all know how athletic he is and he is extremely aggressive. Prob could play any position his size would allow and do fine. I would give him this offseason as WR and if by the back half of the year he's not standing out very much, then he could be tried out at safety but that's gona be a hard nut to crack moving foward.

I hope to see some plays where we can get a Jennings or PW isolated one on one against safties and throw it deep and let them fight for the ball. I think these two kids show that kind of tenacity to come down with it.

Great call there, Remy. Who knew how prophetic this would be.
