If given the choice of making changes or leaving the program. Which choice do you think Fulmer would make? I think this is what happened to Cut at Ole Miss (not sure). Anyway WWPD?

I think Phil likes the idea of continuity on the staff, but when that continuity is underachieving then you must consider changes.

I do not believe Phil will fall on the sword for Randy. Cut was given an ultimatum. Cut would not let the admins make such decisions for his staff. In his case, I think he was right. He had just finished the 2nd most successful 6 year run in Ole Miss history, with only one losing season, and they gave him an unreasonable ultimatum.

Fulmer is in a different boat. His teams have underachieved to some degree since the NC season. This year is a huge disapointment because we DO have some great talent. We have totally lost the edge that Neyland Stadium used to provide. That is the hardest part of all of this for me.

I think it's time that we faced some reality in the Vol Nation.

You cannot have discipline on the field if you lack it off the field. When players are getting in trouble with the law at the rate our's was in the last 18 months then somewhere their is a lack of control at the top. We as fans should discuss this side of the problem without resorting to calling these kids gangsters. That is a shameful way to approach a bad situation. The vast majority of our kids are good kids who do what they should. But we have far too many who have not matured.

When the administration made the change to Fulmer they openly made it clear they wanted more of a player's coach. They have that in Phil. But, there is only so far a man can go in being a kid's friend, and being a father figure at the same time. You lose some of the control you need when you're too lenient.

It is clear from our lack of discipline on the field that we need to run a tighter ship.

Bottom line, Phil will do what it takes to save his own job. If he's given an ultimatum he'll follow it. There's no way he would sacrafice his job to save an assistant.

Let's hope it hasn't come to that. If changes need to be made, and they do, let us hope he'll do it like the leader he needs to be and make the tough decisions without having a knife at his throat.

I think Fulmer is tied to Randy Sanders, If Fulmer doesn't want to change the offensive system that they have used since the early 80's then he needs to go. As for Sanders, he is a bright coach, but he is working for Fulmer and must do what Fulmer wants him to do.

I wish they would agree to make changes on the staff hire a new OC with his own system, and see where that gets them next season. They also should have just one coach dedicated to special teams.
