arrested last night for DUI. Suppose not getting that Depaul job drove him to the bottle.....although he has 3 previous DUI's. Sad case either way.

Kentucky assistant basketball coach Rod Stickland was arrested at 3am Sunday morning and charged with DUI after being pulled over at the intersection of New Circle and Tates Creek. He refused a breathalyzer and failed several field sobriety tests, according to the police report, which also said he smelled of alcohol. He was released yesterday afternoon. Strickland has previously been charged with DUIs in 1998, 1999 and 2001.

The po-po in Lexington just don't understand how things work. They are on to basketball coaches like the KPD gets on the football players.

That's sad. Since this is his fourth, is he looking at a little jail time? In Tennessee, he'd lose his driving privileges and do some time in the pokey.

Hope he gets himself straightened out. He's getting too old for this.

Agreed, I am just saying it's sad he has this kind of problem. Clearly he shouldn't be allowed to even drive anymore.

You think he'd make enough to get a taxi every time. After my second or third DUI, I'd make sure I got one. Or perhaps he could walk to a local bar? Or buy a bottle of scotch and enjoy it on the couch? Or go with a buddy? Or perhaps sleep it off in his car?

I've had alcoholics in my family and it is a problem, but come on man!

So, are announcers going to be required to mention this episode during every single Kentucky game like they mentioned Tyler Smith within 5 minutes of each broadcast?

That answers the question - Where did all those empty Maker's Mark bottles come from for Cal to sign? :beerf:

Honestly, I'm surprised he survived as long as he did in Memphis. But putting Rod Strickland in the heart of bourbon country is the craziest and most dangerous situation I could ever think of...

Does said support system involve Alcoholics Anonymous meetings? :)

Unless you are ready to honestly dry out for good, AA can't help you. And even if you are, the success rate for a lifetime is low.

why the smiley?

Good, I love the bad publicity. Kentucky is really reloading right now. Enes Kanter is going to be a lottery pick and it looks like Cal is going after Terrance Jones hard too.
