Uh Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Sky is Falling

"They kind of came after some of the offensive coaches in the staff meeting and told them how it was going to be today," Lane Kiffin said. "They called it right because they came out and backed it up. They were getting on them in stretching. The defensive coaches came out with a lot of confidence today and the players fed off it."

I love the fact that the defense has this type of confidence.

It's kind of funny trying to envision Fulmer saying this.
"I'm not happy at all with how the thing went," Chaney said. "But what the hell?

Chaney's general demeanor has impressed me more than any other coach on the staff thus far. I think highly of several of them, but Chaney strikes me as a real no-nonsense type of football guy.

I love the fact Kiffin and Chaney didn't pull punches in summing up the QBs' play. "Horrendous" and "What the hell?" are a long way from "we're gonna work like heck."

You took the words out of my mouth. I have been very impressed with Chaney. He has that no-nonsense, football guy mentality, and he also appears to be a pretty bright guy.

Sad thing is....we HAVE to play one of these QBs.

I hope they get it together by fall

Maybe Monte is just that good!

The article says they were thrown new defenses which messed them up. It looks good to me meaning no more third and chavis lets play 15 yards off of our man D-fense no more.

Exactly. As has been said, it is SO refreshing to get the straight talk from our coaches. No glossing over, no BS...straight shooters. We and the media are learning what the players have been learning all along. These coaches pull no punches...they will tell you like it is.

Go Vols!

Ditto on the comments by Chaney. I just love this.

Bottom line is they're focused on resilience and continued every day improvement. That will take you a long way in the SEC. I also get the sense that player development, long an absent phenomena here, is becoming a strength. Amen. And amen.

"You're going to go into the next day and try to get it better. It isn't the end of the world. A lot of the things we were trying to do today was the first time out, so we're going to go in and try to get better at it.

"Rome wasn't built overnight. We're installing a whole new system. We expect some mistakes, and those are tolerable. What upset me today was some effort issues. We'll take care of those."

I do like the stress on "effort". They'll be no slackers on this team, if the guy is just better and i can live with that. Lack of effort has no excuses.

At least they're not pumping sunshine up people's rear's, unlike the last bunch.

No kidding. Last year all we heard was what great practices they were having, and then we saw the product on gameday. No since in covering up the truth because it always gets out.
