he was expected to get some serious playing time too. Wonder how Richt will handle it

He'll probably get one of those Urban Meyer punishments and be suspended for pregame warm ups.

That should break the Fulmer Cup tiebreaker they were in

Congrats Dawgs, you are the 2010 Winner of the Fulmer Cup

Funny thing is that when i've brought this up to my UGA friends they immediately start saying how they are going to slaughter us this year.
It brings uncontrollable laughter to me.

The irony of the name Fulmer Cup just gets better every year. The SEC always seems to be in the hunt for the Cup, but its UT's rivals that win the awards.

Alabama has a Fulmer Cup, and now we can likely add UGA to that list.

Florida and Bama both also boast Ellis T Jones winners for most points scored by a single player each year. It looks like FSU's Nigel Carr will get this award this year, as he committed 3 misdemeanors and 3 felonies in the spree that got him arrested.

The scoring period ends on Thursday when the first games kick off, so we're just a few days away from knowing that our rivals have captured 40% of Fulmer Cups awarded and 40% of Ellis T Jones awards in the short 5 year history of the Cup.

I hate it for the kid. I hope he is punished appropriately, learns his lesson, and has a long and productive career aside from his game(s) against us.

It is interesting that we put it in the proper perspective when it happens to someone else. If he played for UT the site would be in melt down mode. There would be numerous threads on the Main Board:

Another Kiffin recruit in trouble

Dooley better restore discipline

Fire Mike Hamilton Now!

We should not have fired Fulmer

The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling, The Sky is falling…

Those threads already exist here anyway.

arrested at 3:00 am. I gotta a feeling alcohol was involved.... The accident was taken care of by the UGA campus police; so, maybe the purposely didn't check for that.

Its offseason to opening day so there is like a week left for the cup. Pretty sure they will win.

ATHENS – Georgia will open the football season without its leading rusher of a year ago.

Washaun Ealey has been suspended from the team for at least the Sept. 4 opener against Louisiana-Lafayette after an early-Friday arrest for hit-and-run of a parked vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

Ealey’s arrest -– the eighth of a UGA football player this year -– irritated Georgia coach Mark Richt to the extent that he said he didn’t really want to talk with the sophomore running back.

“I didn’t plan on talking to him because I really wasn’t in the right frame of mind to speak to him. I didn’t know what I might say,” Richt said Friday evening. “But after I decided that I was going to suspend him at least one game, I thought it’d be at least proper to tell him before I [announced it]. I didn’t really feel like speaking to him, quite frankly.”

Richt was upset that Ealey drove despite knowing his license was suspended and assuring Georgia director of football operations Josh Brooks and running backs coach Bryan McClendon that he would not drive.

“He saw them face to face and knew he had a suspended license and said he wouldn’t drive,” Richt said. “But he decided going a little short distance won’t hurt, and it did. So he’s paying a severe price for that.”

Richt said Ealey could return for Georgia’s second game – Sept. 11 at South Carolina – “if he handles things the way he should and behaves between now and [then]. . . . But he’s got to show me he deserves to not only play but practice with the team.”

The eight arrests of Georgia football players this year, all since March, have been for a range of charges, from battery to public intoxication. Five of the cases, although not Ealey’s, included alcohol-related charges. Two included driver’s license violations. All of the charges have been misdemeanors.

Three of the arrested players were subsequently kicked off the team, and another left the program after drawing a half-season suspension.

Well, suspended for the game against that mighty LA Lafayette squad....this spells doom for the Dawgs in that one.

And Richt didn't tell the team to go celebrate after scoring against Florida.

I roll my eyes and say, "Please" everytime Richt acts like he's upset with the conduct of his players.

He's just like the rest of them. How important is/are the player(s) who did it ? When did he/they do it ? And does it make HIM look good or bad ?

Ealey couldn't see because he's still recovering from the Spikes eye gouge!

The Gators will call UGA's suspended license and hit-and-run with two underage drinking misdemeanors from a few weeks ago.

Tennessee, you're up and then bama after that.

I think we accidentally skipped some people's turns a few times over the last year, so we will hopefully pass this time around.
