In the winter of 2000 a UGA fan posted in the Atlanta Journal that Tennessee/Florida would not have the kind of success in the 2000 decade that they had experienced during the 1990's. This fan went on to say that UGA would be the big boy on the SEC East block for the most part during the 2000-2009 years. I remember laughing at that comment because at the time UGA was a no nothing FB program and Tenn/Fla were ruling the conference for the most part.

Looking back now I would have to say that guy maybe right because both Tenn/Fla have gone down hill from where they were in 1999. I think Florida will regroup next season and be a player in the conference/national picture, however, I'm not sure Tennessee will. Unless changes are made by Coach Fulmer, I'm afraid this season will be repeated throughout the rest of this decade. I definitely think one of Fulmer's biggest problems is that after running the same offense for 20+ years defenses have caught up to him plus he no longer has the athletes to play the brand of offense he has ran for lo these many years. Nebraska finally saw the light as did Paterno at Penn St and it's high time CF does too or else this program is headed for alot of 7-4 years or worst.

I keep hearing this "We're running the same offense as 20 years ago". Our offense is much the same as a lot of other programs throughout college football. I saw us run everything last night from Power I to 3 wides to a Flexbone type formation to the Run and Shoot. We're as diverse as anybody else.

FYI Tennessee is still running the same offense as they did 20 years ago, but hey don't take my word for it just ask Coach Fulmer. He and other UT coaches have stated numberous times that the offense is the same that has been run for the past 20 years. Other coaches and sports media people have made the same comments. So GAVol who is right you or the above mentioned sources? I prefer to believe Coach Fulmer at least knows which offensive scheme he has been using and for how long.

Yep, we're diverse as far as what we utilize from a formation and scheme standpoint. Most of our base package is a blend of standard I-formation and west coast offense.

Spurrier has been running the same stuff since he was at Duke. Osborne ran the same basic attack at Nebraska for 20 years. The same for Bowden at FSU, Richt at UGA (from FSY), and many others.

Scheme is SO OVERRATED.

It's not the scheme, but the...

use of the scheme.

coaching of the scheme.

teaching of the scheme.

adjustments in the scheme.

players running the scheme.

Respectfully,

Liper
