Iam on another board and I was just playing around with a Ga fan and he was like "you are going to be so surprised when you come to Athens next year" Do you guys think they are going to get us this year since they think they are going to win it all next season?

It depends a lot on our QB play and how well the new coaching crew jel together. We have blown them out everytime as of late so we go in with a mental advantage.

They said the same thing last year...and the year before.

tell them we've actually felt pretty comfortable in Athens the past couple of trips.

Aside from UF with a wounded QB, which good team did they beat last year? Did they play any D1 team well? Nothing on their resume from this past season screams greatness. Absolutely nothing.

We might very well struggle on the road with a new O and inexperienced QB, so they might find a way to win. I, however, don't like their chances in the SECe.

Reminds me of '04 in Athens. UGA #3 in the land, lowly UT with a true Freshman at QB. Oh wait who won that game?:p

They have about as much business saying that as we'd have of predicting a blowout of UF. Can Jawja beat us? Of course they can, just as we can beat them. Should they be talking until they prove it on the field? No.

UGA is being set up to fall spectacularly next season. They won't miss out on a bowl as we did in '05, but they are definitely being put upon a dangling pedestal.

I'm not sure I would be talking smack to a team that creamed mine two years in a row. We may have a question mark at QB right now, but there is no reason to believe we cannot plug one in and keep it going.

UGA people better mark this down - they're going to lose at least 3 games this season. Their players/coaches are already starting to follow the path UT took preceding the 2005 season; talking about how great they can be and already planning on withing for the NC. Ga will not be nearly as good as their fans think. Hey why should anyone be surprise at remarks made by their fans; they do more talking and less performing than any other school I know.

Right now every game next yr is a big question mark. Our D can probably keep us in games but we have no idea what the offense is going to look like. Wont know IMO until week 3 or so to see how they jell.

Honestly, Georgia is the team that scares me the most next year.

I think Next year is the year Chavis finally learns to defend the spread, and subsequently surprises an over-confident gator crew, and an inexperienced Auburn.

Moreno will be more challenging for us this year I believe, and Stafford is starting to get better at reading defenses.

Moreno might be more challenging because their line could improve, but I didn't see proof of Stafford making some leap to competence. He still made awful throws pretty routinely, but they overcame them or opponents didn't capitalize. IMO, he's Ryan Leaf. Rocket for an arm, scrambled eggs up top.

Some coaches seem to own other coaches....CDC appeared to own UGA's DC......I hope Cut has passed the secret on to Clawson.

Georgia is going to be arguably the best SEC team next year.
because their D is proven? because their O is proven? because they beat Hawaii? because they went on a streak and beat one good football team to finish last season?

I'm not a buyer here.

they beat Florida. Plus they have Knowshon Moreno who will contend for a heisman before he graduates.
so did Auburn, LSU and Michigan, but you're not touting them as a frontrunner for anything.

Barry Sanders was the baddest RB in college football for a couple of years and pulled down a Heisman, but I don't think he went home with team accolades to show for it.

Their D better get good quick and their OLine has more ground to make up.

They have a tough schedule:
@ SC
@ ASU
AL
TN
@ LSU
FL (Jax)
@ KY
@ AU

2008 Georgia Bulldogs Football Schedule

I don't like that both Florida and Georgia has bye weeks before us, and you know Georgia is gonna come out with the black shirts.

Say what you will about them playing weak teams, but CMR got them excited to play, something I didn't feel we (as a team) always had.

*edit* He got them excited after playing us that is

...you took the words right out of my mouth, reminds me of the 05 hype on the VOLS ( I drank a good portion of that kool aid to be honest).

Reminder to all...it is the SEC, just about anybody can beat their opponent on any given Saturday. I expect the better SEC teams to have 2 losses.

Barry only started one year at Okie State.

Lets just hope we get them after a bye week like this past season. We will be much fresher.

For all the talk about UGA, they lost two OL, the D is mediocre at best, they have no WRs that scare anyone and the QB is shaky.

Why in the hell is Stafford getting any love whatsoever? He completed 55% of his passes. He's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

UGA is, as BPV said, setting themselves up for a tremendous letdown next season.
