Are UF's backup defensive players this bad, or is the backup qb that good?

Newton completed 20 of 30 passes for 275 yards and a touchdown in the Orange and Blue game at Florida Field on April 14.

I'd suspect some of both but the proportion will determine how good they are.

so they may have to go with Scout's #7 QB prospect instead of the #14 prospect? I'd heard that Newton will just be a situtational guy, like Tebow last year, for the time being.

They are stockloaded at QB... it's crazy that one of two 5-star guys is going to have to red-shirt... nice problem to have.

I was shocked that Brantley actually signed with them after Newton committed. For the time being they are loaded though.

BTW, none of UF's QB's are a proven commodity.

Tebow had special packages for him but we don't know how good he will be as the every down guy. He has skills but J Crompton has skills. He didn't embarrass himself but hardly dominated in his two starts.

I don' think the UTK coaches would know what to do with Newton. They'd probably try and convert him to a RB or TE. Brantley would fit into UT's system much better.

And you know this how ? I mean I think the kid is a great prospect but he has played not 1 down in a college football game and you have got him starting at 95% of the schools......gimmie a break....that's a stretch even for you LG.

It may be an exaggeration to prove a point, which was simply that his success in the Spring Game was more a function of he and the offense clicking than it was the defense sucking wind.

He's a top-ranked prospect at the awesomest football school ever. Plus he gets to stand next to Tebow in the shower. Of course he's better than almost all the other quarterbacks in the country.
