Rutgers...1979! my #1 choice.

AND UT will be starting a walk-on (former) at center!
Oh dear lord!!!!!!

The infamous "What are Rutgers?"

Yeah, while Sullins sounds like a pretty tough dude... usually don't want to see former walk-ons starting... hopefully he was a late bloomer.

I hope so! Starting to get worried...really worried about the season.

1979 Rutgers game....I was there with my dad and uncle (who was a Law Professor at Rutgers then/now). What an embarrassment!!!!!!!!!!

Last year I didn't take the UCLA loss as a warning sign. I tried to block it out of my mind as just a fluke. Not this year if UT has trouble with UCLA or loses you might as well hunker down for a long season.

Man I did because of the WAY we lost that game. I was so upset I could barely sleep that night. I was upset because I was afraid that that game was exactly what we were going to see all year...which unfortunately it was.

If the relative talent level between us is similar to last year then this coaching staff should have us prepared to do away with them in convincing fashion. No way these coaches fail to put a team away when we have their defense gasping for air and on their heals, no way these coaches don't see the 2nd half adjustments to the offense and make corresponding adjustments to our defense. No way does this staff put our QB in situations that do not play to his strengths and risk losing confidence. With two true Freshman on the line and a Freshman QB I'm very confident that this staff will blitz them out of Neyland stadium all the way back to the left coast.

Man o man we really need to look sharp in the UCLA game as we'll have a lot of recruits checking us out. Could make the difference between a top 15 and top 5 class.

I think the article said the 2 OL frosh are on the left side of the line so that would be Gerald and B. Martin's opportunity to sack the QB. That UCLA game made me puke in my mouth a few times with how terrible the game day coaching was on both sides of the ball.

Yep, that game sealed the deal for me for Fulmer. While many had got their sooner, that was my final straw. It was that point that I knew we needed a changed ASAP for this program to survive.

Ya my dad and I were pretty fed up with Fulmer's just dont lose attitude, but that game hurt the most cuz I loved the chief and he and his staff failed terribly that day.

Injuries have been tough the past couple weeks. Lost 2 sr OL, sr DL, jr DE, and just lost our starting TB. Defense will be our strength again this year. Our D starters are top notch, but depth is an issue. Offense is the big ? as the OL goes… we have great talent/depth at the skill positions (though many are young), I just hope our O-line can give our RS FR QB a little time. I’m sure our staff will use film from monte’s tampa defense to prepare. Yeah, if I were monte, I’d blitz all day as well. Looking forward to Knoxville. Got my JD ready, and rocky top in my head.

There is a big difference in starting freshman at home, and starting freshmen all the way across the country in front of 100,000+ fans. I also think the UT players remember the painful/embarrasing loss from last year. Basically, minus the freshman thing, I see it playing out the same way the Cal-UT series played out.

cal started a RS sophmore qb in his first game ever at Tenn. UCLA will start a rs freshman qb who has never completed a pass.

I really think this is going to be a game of turnovers. I think being at home gives us at least a 10 point edge in a game that is going to play so many young players. I can't wait to be in their screaming my lungs out to rattle that FSH QB!

"Apologies to San Diego State, but UCLA's redshirt quarterback Kevin Prince's formal introduction to big-time college football will take place on Sept. 12 when he walks into Neyland Stadium at Tennessee and meets 105,000 of his newest enemies.

That sea of weltering orange is not something a guy can prepare for.

Nonetheless, Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel is going to try, though he's still not certain about his approach.

"I've been thinking about that all summer and I keep going back and forth between telling him that this is going to be the hardest place in the country and telling him to forget about it that it's not that big of a deal," Neuheisel said."

The teams should actually match up pretty well.

Have a great time in Knoxville Dave. It should be a great atmoshphere for that game!

Give Mr. George Dickel a try sometime as an alternate to Mr. Jack Daniels.

Berry will have a pick 6 and Nuke will take a punt to the house...that will spot Crompton and the O 14 points.

If they're the left side, I'm almost positive that Walker is our blindside pass rusher.

Oh, I forgot about the blocked punt we gave up for a TD. Man I'm getting nauseated just thinking about that game. Fulmer deserved to be fired for the year in/year out horrible ST play...even after acknowledging that ST was an issue.
