UCLA didn't just start to be a villain in my book (sketchbook, that is)

I have been posting old "That's Jake" cartoons on Substack, which had me looking through old files. Along the way, I pulled out some sketchbooks that go way back. Way before anybody ever heard of Nico, or even before his parents had considered him, or maybe even before they were around, I did this salute to UCLA. Notice only one deck on student side, open end zone. Has to be around 1968 when I first enrolled.

To me the biggest painful but stage setting game vs UCLA was in 1985. Was a junior in upper deck b/c couldn't get student tix, and super frustrating game where TRob went off but UCLA scored two TDs w/ 2 point conversions (16 points) in five minutes to tie the game. BUT, the next game was vs Bo's #1 Auburn...and we all know what a magical day that was.
