Someone please sell us on Tyson Helton. How well does he recruit? What is his offensive philosophy? What kind of offensive talent has he trained up? I just hoped we would get a more proven offensive mind like Hugh Freeze or Mark Helfrich.

I was confused on why he would leave his brother at USC?

If Tennessee was getting a coach from USC as offensive coordinator.... I would have bet my life on it being Tee.

Where has anyone said he'd be the OC? I've only seen him mentioned as being on the staff?

I’m sure more money..... and that money buys way more in TN than in Cali

In 2016, he was named the FootballScoop Quarterbacks Coach of the Year.

2 years (2014-15) as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky. WKU broke more than two dozen school offensive records under Helton, including the points scored record in each of his 2 years. The Hilltopper offense was in the national Top 10 in 2015 in passing efficiency (first at 177.4), scoring (third at 44.3), passing (fourth at 372.2), first downs (eighth at 349) and total yards (ninth at 526.4).

In 2014, WKU became the first NCAA program with a 4,500-yard passer and 1,500-yard rusher

So what you're telling me is we are getting Brohm's offense with Pruitt's defense...

I think his brother was praising Tee in hopes he would leave and Tyson would be OC at USC.

Hugh Freeze cheats.

No thanks.

Helton is reportedly coming to UT as quarterbacks coach/passing coordinator. There's also speculation he may be Co-OCs with Will Friend.

Go Vols!
