Shoutout to all the arm chair coordinators in here who have prolly never played a meaningful down of football in their life. Amazing the idiocricy of some.

I'm on the fence. Have hated his playcalling more often than not but can admit it isn't fair to judge based on the poor o-line. This team also badly needs continuity with the coaching staff. That behind said, it wouldn't surprise me to see Helton move on, Friend named OC, Weinke moved to QB coach, and a new RB coach gets hired.

As for Friend...next season will show what he's got as an o-line coach. I think a huge issue for that group has just been size and strength. Another offseason with Fitz will help a lot. Have to keep in mind that Sam Pittman's o-line looked bad his first year at UGA. The S&C program makes a huge difference and that doesn't really show up on the field after just one offseason.

My #1 worry was the offense this season. And it still is. Trying to look past the OL and JG, if there was a good way out ..... I'd take it - make the change. Not a fan of the game planning especially as it pertains to the passing game (I get it with the running game). I watched too many games in the past two days, to include the TN game, to see (or not see) the innovation in the passing game. Swing passes, slants, crossing routes and receivers/running backs isolated on linebackers seem to be rare sightings in the TN offense These don't require great amounts of time, or even great throws. Heck, with all the deep balls we've been throwing would you expect a come-back route or two? Anyway I did see our D get abused with this stuff though. Play calling was meh. Had it's moments. Week to week planning seemed to vary considerably.

I guess if I thought the offensive scheme, with an OL and better QB play could consistently score in the high 20s or even 30s on the better SEC teams - fine. I didn't see it this year, and have serious doubts it'll get there.

Will a change happen? No. I'd be surprised if it did.

Personally, I don’t like his play calling but how are things being dictated? Running the ball late when you are down by 17 to 24 points, dumb. When we throw sideline to sideline like we did today and it’s not working, when do you decide to go downfield? We didn’t even take a shot until midway second quarter. Now granted, the O-line was absolutely horrible, but you have to go down the field. We have two big WRs and a big TE that should be able to go up and get the ball. Also, when it’s third down and you line up empty backfield when the pass rush is eating you up, what chance does the QB have? Pruitt hasn’t played to his deficiencies. Instead, he plays like he would if he had the talent in place. I don’t like that style. Personally, I think he’ll get good players and they’ll be able to lineup the way he wants to play and get it done but you can’t do that with this group.

What do you think?
What do you think?

Unless Helton's replacement can play quarterback and/or offensive line while co- ordinating the offense …. then no.
And our defense was on the field too much and ran into two crazy hot quarterback two games in a row - glad both of those guys are gone.

Missouri and Vanderbilt's offensive lines were both superior to ours and they were getting A+ quarterback play while we were getting meh quarterback play. Recruiting better talent is the only cure for what ails us. In all candor, I think we have two very good running backs …. but you can't really appreciate them because our o - line is in such shambles. You really can't judge coaches on either side of the ball the first year imho. Our linebackers and db's will be better next year. I am hoping we have a couple of freshman starters on the offensive line. There needs to be competition at qb. The offense will be better next season, the backside of the defense will be better. Not sure what we are going to do about the defensive line but I am hopeful we see a lot of improvement. These coaches did not inherit much imho.
