After Currie almost hired Schiano, it gives us insight into the TYPE of hire he is looking for. (Just style alone) He is looking for a tough, no nonsense, my way or the highway coach. Looking for discipline almost like a military approach. He’s not concerned with likeability. The problem is: We need an exciting offense and someone who’s likeable for recruiting and FUN to play for.

Our players under Butch were too uptight and needed a coach to help them to relax, have swagger/confidence, and enjoy playing the game.

Curious if this is the guy Currie was after or Haslam puppetiered him to. Either way Currie takes the hit and if Peyton has strings attached to him as well he best be cutting them now

What we saw Sunday, is basically what we're in for. It's gonna be a nobody, or promotion from with in now.

If a no-nonsense coach was the primary criteria, then Troy Calhoun should have been hired. See, it's not really that hard to do that $900,000/year job

Currie liked Butch and he would still be here if he could've won 6 games this season. The guy he was trying to hire was Butch like maybe a lot less likeable.

Make no mistake, shamoo was Haslam's guy, not Currie's.. Currie can't hire anyone without Haslam's approval and there in lies the REAL problem. As long as it remains this way, UT will NOT get a top flight coach..

Just a friendly 2 cents worth from your brother Razorback to west. I don't have enough posts to start my own thread and probably won't. Just FYI, I love your program as an east division competitor.

I followed this forum and your Vol twitters for a couple hours Sunday as this was going down. The entire thing was pure comedy. The funny thing is Schiano most likely was the best coach you were going to find. He can't help the fact he worked at Penn State in the early 90's. To suggest he knew anything about what was going on at that time is ridiculous. If he did witness that going on, he just might have walked in the shower and ripped Sandusky's pecker off and kicked his butt. His Rutgers time was great. He turned a losing program into a winner the last 7 years he was there after he got his players and rebuilt the culture. Hence the reason the Bucs took a chance on him. Who cares what he did in the NFL. Saban and Spurrier didn't last either.

I understand I don't have much room to talk b/c my moronic peers ran off Houston Nutt when you folk was running off Fulmer in a similar manner. So that's 2 highly successful coaches that had a disappointing year and the internet lynch mobs runs them off. But Sunday I was just happy that joke was on ya'll and not us. Your Tennessee Volunteer program is such a joke these days I'm embarrassed to share a state border with you. I can even say that after sitting through the Bielema error. Your dumpster fire burns so big even I'm getting warm hundreds of miles away. You folks want to pick the coach, then you pick the coach. Get Kiffin and all his character baggage if he will come back. You're looking at another 10 years just like the last 10 years. I actually like your program and it's sad to see how far it's fallen since Fulmer left. After Sunday your program is the joke of college football. Any decent coach would be a fool to step in your dumpster fire. You think you're Florida but your the equivalent to Kentucky.

Pot meet kettle.

No fan of Tennessee will accept Schiano was the best we could get. What in his resume tells us he’s better than Butch? Nothing. The coach we have in now has a better record. It’s a down cycle at UT but it’s not the end.

If Schiano wants to be a legit candidate he should have already addressed the testimony in a formal way.

And, the UTAD could have leaked that type of info.

Schiano would be perfect for Arkansas. Hope y’all get him.

Good. Arkansas should hire Schiano.

Much of what you say is true and well thought out. But it’s like hearing a Miller Lite drinker talking to a Scotch man about drinking. You just have to nod and “bless his heart’ cause how do you talk to an Arky Miller Lite guy about championships and national prominence?
