w00t. My 2 year old gave me a high five and did a victory lap around the coffee table.

Tyler will apply for a hardship from the NCAA which will allow him to play this year. His dad's lung cancer has spread from one lung to two and he has moved closer to a specialist which has also made him closer to Knoxville. IMO this is what the hardship rule was made for, I don't see how they can deny him, but you never know with the NCAA.

That's terrible to hear about Mr. Smith. I imagine being closer to home will be better for Tyler, but I wouldn't want to be in his shoes with his father in that condition.

he should get it. if the NCAA can let a football player comeback home because his mother broke her ankle, they should let him comeback because his father has cancer

Besides being closer to his father, a two hour drive according to the Tennessean, he will also be able to visit Tyler's son who is also living with Tyler's dad. As far as playing, this is who the rule is made for, people that have a family problem and still want to play their sport.
