so how is he looking at the DB spot? he's prolly the biggest DB out there at like 6-4..

He looks thin. Most likely a redshirt, and was absolutely left in the dust by Kenny O'Neal during special teams work.

He's listed at 6'2. But I think HV or someone in the recruiting forum who knows said a while back he actually 6'4. Maybe one of them will know.

yea, he's prolly gonna redshirt.. he's got to learn the defensive side of the ball before he'll get any kind of PT.

These are what I have seen for him:
4.18
4.25
4.28
4.31
All of those are FAST so I guess it does not matter.

Don't let vol423 hear you say that....you'll get a complete spill on how those kind of times aren't possible :birgits_giggle:

Those times are definately possible. Look at LSU's Trindon Holliday who runs a sub 4.2. And am I mistaken or did Justin Gatlin run a 3.86 recently?

That is strange, someone on Volquest said that Gatlin ran that. Some NFL guy ran a 4.04 and Bo Jackson ran a 4.12.

But he doesn't run a 4.18. Only the top world class sprinters could run that fast.
I wasn't saying that he ran a 4.18,you cares? I was saying he had great moves and was quick. I believe times are over-rated. Ex. Leonard Scott, fast but couldn't catch a cold.

The fastest guy in NCAA Football runs a 4.16 and thats not even in Pads (JaCoby Ford- Clemson)

What I was referring to was a thread on here last week about Justin Gatlin trying out for football. The thread turned into a debate about 40 times and how 3.86 isn't possible and how Ben Johnson himself was only clocked electronically at 4.38 or something. The thread basically took a meaningless topic (40 times) and turned it into a long and drawn out debate to which I was poking fun at with my previous post.

Anyway...I couldn't care less what O'Neal was timed at or if it's legit or if 40 times that fast are possible. I have seen video of him and he is incredibly quick and fast. The video I saw was against JUCO players..not highschoolers...and he was "tilting the field"...just absolutely blowing away the other players. Now, whether or not he becomes a great WR...only time will tell. But regardless of what his 40 time may be...he is a legitimate burner

I was involved in the thead Blamie refers to and and the short of it is there is a massive amount of disinformation on this subject out there, including some sources that would otherwise seem to be reliable. Here's something meaningful you can use:

Player Bio: Kenny O'Neal :: Football

This has O'Neal's best 100m time at 10.3. Look, for a football player that is DAMN fast, and he may even be a bit quicker now. But even if he is, that's not translating to a 4.1 anything. Don't ever let anyone even start you down that road if somebody hasn't been officially timed in a legit non wind aided 10.15 hundred or maybe a 60 meters in under 6.6 or so. (It does make you appreciate how Un-Godly fast the likes of Gatlin is if somebody like O'Neal is topping out at 10.3 and Gatlin runs under 9.8, doesn't it?)

Blamie's got it right. By any football standard O'Neal is a burner and will likely never be caught from behind on the field until age or injury dictate otherwise. (word has it Vinson is in that category also) Can the man PLAY FOOTBALL is what will matter to Vol fans.

I was on a thread a while back and mentioned the same thing about how the times arent possible. Long and overdebated subject but on to Tyler Maples.

He is definately an athlete. When he gets used to playing defense, and the anticipation that is involved, he will be good. Hopefully he puts on about 15-20lbs before next year.

Have any of Maryville's players really panned out though? I remember Carl Stewart at Auburn, Nick Black at Clemson and we had a LB a few years back and South Carolina has Cade Thompson.....Those guys were just okay - Maryville is such a good program (no public school anywhere takes football more seriously) that their players maximize their full potential while in HS....It makes for a lot of overrated busts at the next level...Maples will never see the field here unless it is on special teams.
