'26 TX WR Legend Bey

I think the fact he made it through his visit without committing is big. We at least still have a shot to get a visit, or go in home.

Thinking this kid wouldnt be a battle to the end is folly.
We at least we still have a shot to get a visit? He's still actively commited to UT.

Good grief! You're one of the most negative posters in the RF.

Wow. I was thinking it was a fairly objective post. Feel free to use that block button. Won't hurt my feelings.
I don't need to block you. You make a lot of good posts in this forum. However, you also often turn extremely negative about holding onto any commits if they ever consider any other major program. My characterization of you as a negative poster wasn't just taking into consideration that one post. It takes into count your posts in other recruiting threads this season. It also takes into account this post that you just made within the last few days in this thread.

Will be interesting to see how Pope handles this, and if he can settle things down. I think I know how thins one goes, but, then again Pope has changed the narrative in recruiting

Wiltfong's comments in this video (4:16 mark) do not sound positive at all for us hanging on to Legend Bey. Said if talks go well with the agent and family, Bey could be one of the next in the fold for OSU.

After a year of building relationships with coaches and players. If a kid is going to walk after a tough loss, do you really want him on the team.
Let's not rush to any type of conclusion. Kid did say he wants to play for a winner. But think about it. A visit from Tejas to Ahia, would have taken more than a week to plan. So loss to OK has nothing to do with anything.

We were always going to have a down year after losing Nico, and our starting CB's. (That does NOT let LB and DL off the hook).

Huep put us in a position to really contend and perhaps win some big games. Hope we win out, and kid stays with us he is a big time player. Not one who isnt replaceable.

I think the kid looking around has more to do with OSU than it does us.

As much as I hate it, OSU is a top 3 brand in CFB and are possibly headed for back to back titles. When they come calling that's extremely hard to pass up for some kids.

OSU was in Bey's top schools when he committed to us so his interest in them isn't out of nowhere.

Bama isn’t losing big games. They got a DL commit looking around. And looking here.

Please explain.
I guess read the article where Bey talks about how he likes winning and Ohio State is a winning program. They are undefeated heading to another playoff. We are 6-3.

Lol or what if he meant NCs. They literally just won it.

And you didn’t explain how Bama who isn’t losing big games has a guy looking at a 6-3 school.

Some recruits “commit” to a school only to see if they get better offers later. Tennessee was one of Bey’s best offers when he first committed. In his eyes and others it looks like Ohio State’s offer is now even better in the grand scheme of things.

What was negative about that post? I read it as positive myself

It’s NFL light now - we’ve got a budget and have to build the best roster we can. Maybe we don’t have the WR budget to raise our offer?

It would be awesome if we held on, BUT I’m not super worried with receiving group.

Matthews, Staley, Jackson, Smith Jr. and Keys is elite. Not even taking into consideration that you have really good playmakers behind that group.

Bey will almost certainly need a year to put on weight.

its safe to say whatever *logic* you have regarding recruiting is not adhered to by a single recruit in america. this was true in 2000, 2015, and today. there are so many variables going into it. there was a time when we had a ton of bad luck with high school girlfriends going to rival schools and that was literally the main reason we lost recruits in a cycle. do you remember what it was like to be 17? that brain is not fully developed yet

let this one play out. I think if he wants to play RB so bad we have an enticing offer for him there too (no back in our class yet)

also, if he wants to play runningback, the easier position is... why? more wear and tear, shorter average career, less money

we offer him more as a WR than any school can offer him at RB. let's see what our staff does.

This was my exact thinking. OSU is recruiting him purely as a RB. Even if he ends up there, he will still need to add weight to play that position full time. I absolutely would LOVE to have him in our class but if we do lose him it's also not the end of the world with the class either. Let's just see what the kid does.
