'27 TX LB Cooper Witten

Ohio State is a team to look out for, I hear that Witten really like James Lauranitis the OSU linebackers coach. Just remember you heard it here first.🤷

It remains early in the recruitment of Rivals’ No. 1 LB Cooper Witten, who will be back in Norman on Sept. 6 for the Sooners’ showdown with Michigan. Oklahoma is one of several top contenders for the blue-chip defender along with Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, Texas A&M, Texas and Tennessee, where father Jason starred in the early 2000s.

Witten was in Rocky Top for the Big Orange Barbecue in May and will return for the Georgia game next month. Josh Heupel and the Volunteers have been working feverishly to keep the Tennessee tradition in the Witten Family and have staying power in this recruitment.

“It’s been great to see the program from a different lens this summer,” Witten said. “Coach Heupel has a clear vision of what he wants his program to be and stands for all the right things. Since June 15, my family and I have felt the love from the whole staff.”

Prediction: Tennessee
Obviously a long way to go in this one but gotta love where we stand early on. Witten (No. 1 LB) and Omarii Sanders (No. 3 LB) would be an insane haul in '27.

VQ

Defensively in the 2027 class, Cooper Witten will receive plenty of attention this weekend. The Vols made the most of getting him to campus for the Big Orange BBQ in May. This weekend will serve as another opportunity in the relationship building stage. Witten likes plenty about the Vols, outside of the fact that his father is a legend in Knoxville, but he is also getting plenty of attention from other top programs across the country, such as Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Oklahoma, so Tennessee will look to keep stacking visits starting with this weekend.
