This thread refers to football hires. Does each sport have it's own s&c staff, or do they all use the same staff??

Rock was hired as the top S & C coach over all UT sports.

I'm sure he had assistants to help with each sport.

I'd guess that this is the same type of situation.

The good thing is that we now have a weight room with plenty of space for the footVol and basketVol teams to be working out at the same time with space left over for the LadyVols to workout too.

I'm also sure that the HC of every sport will have a good schedule worked out with the head of S&C so that every player of every sport will be well taken care of.

It's time to get ALL sports at Tennessee moving back up the rankings towards the top.

A strength program takes time? Fitz should have no longer than say 8-9 months.

You've been very salty about RG not being retained. You comment every time there's an opportunity. That you Rock? Or you kin? I'm tired of hearing this BS about it takes 2 years and so on to make 18-22 year olds fit and strong. Asmus came here in 09' and proved it can be done in 5-6 months. I'm sure Rock was a nice guy and all but god dang I've never seen our boys get pushed around by inferior talent like they did this year. So obviously he wasn't doing it right. The pictures of our boys with saggy tits this year was also sickening. Something was wrong!

Look at their resumes.

One was a linebacker who led the team in tackles for two years.
The other was a two star defensive lineman who started every game as a senior at South Carolina.

Footwork and hand speed are strength and conditioning in my book.

I don't see a lot of third down conversions for our opponents after 9 months with these guys. "This is what you need to do. And this is why it is important."

No more parties in the weight room.

Things are going to get serious real fast and our players are going to get pushed hard in the right ways for the position they're going to play.

Do the work, get the WINS!

BOT’s fixation on Gullickson is odd. I tend to agree with him that Rock shouldn’t be judged on the limited time he had and I disagree with your recollection of Ausmus. A lot of going backwards and getting run by to be had that season before squeaking out 6 wins and getting obliterated in the bowl game. Back to BOT. He seems to be under the impression that the S&C coach is either a legacy or university hire...they aren’t. They’re an extension of the HC and the coach that has the most personal contact with the players. It has to be the HC’s pick...or it goes to hell (see last two years).

That picture. It was like an episode of Seinfeld. I kept waiting for someone to say it was photo-shopped or something.

Yes. The problems are a reflection of the HC. Butch was a notorious micromanager and had to have everything done his way. Not the sign of a great coach. Rock has had success everywhere he has been, working under Butch shouldn't tarnish his prior successes.

I wouldn't say he's had success everywhere he's been. I'm sure he was an above average coach in his prime. But let's be honest. The Rams after he left...? Way more physical team this year. Don't get me wrong he seems like a really nice guy.

Never had a problem with that. Did look a tad goofy this past season down 50 tho. :ermm:

Well... that can be explained. Butch told em, the last 11 to get to the other end have to play the 4th quarter.
