To all of you saying people are "sketchy" for hitting a recruit on twitter... just stop. You either don't understand how social networks work, or your to old to care. This is a huge part of these kids lives. They spend the majority of their day tweeting, instagraming, and on facebook. They like the interaction as long as fans are showing love, so chill with your rude comments towards people wanting to make a recruit feel wanted. Its a part of the game now, just ask CBJ. Cheers.

I don't tweet but I do lurk on FB from time to time, mostly ex-girlfriends though.

"Showing love" is one thing. The issue is it is not left there. When it does not work out and the kid goes elsewhere it's bashing kids and death threats as some recruits have experienced. Then you have guys like Sab who are outside the kids house in a tree with binoculars.

Better to just leave it alone. JMO

Yeah, you're right. It's not "sketchy", it's weird. Come on guys, stop calling it "sketchy". I'm not old by the way.

Do you tell yourself the girl you are stalking enjoys it when you wait in the bushes outside her window?

Let me tell you how this looks to the schools & athletic departments.

First off, you being a fan is thoroughly appreciated. However, you messaging teenagers begging them to come to our schools is weird and unwelcome. You are more of a liability than a help because fans & recruits interacting is just asking for violations to take place. If you buy tickets, buy the merchandise, etc., then you're a booster. Bottom line.

Oh, guess what... you tweeting them is NOT going to make them commit to your university. If that were the case, UT would have a top 5 recruiting class every year. Go ahead, follow them, but refrain from sending messages begging them for a commitment.

I never said that I participate in doing it, but more-so that twitter is there for this purpose. I agree that fans should refrain from bashing these kids, but every fan base has those type of fans; its going to happen. You people thinking its "stalking" are being ridiculous. These kids love the fan interaction.

Your leading the charge to defend them yet you do not participate??? Riiiiiight.

Twitter is an incredibly useful tool for news. It's a great way to communicate with friends, sort-of friends, and people whom you don't know who are interested in the same stuff. It's still creepy when random 35 year old men stick their faces into high school kids' lives. Just because a new technology makes communicating with kids who don't know you more efficient does not suddenly mean it's not weird anymore.

Weird thing to me is that the same sort of epidemic following of recruits, shoutouts, self-promotion, etc etc wasn't even close to as much of a thing with Facebook as it is with Twitter.

It's almost like Twitter gives people a semblance of anonymity

Don't get stalking high school teenage boys. Hi.. Welcome to NBC Dateline. I'm Chris Hanson

Are people trying to have sex with these kids? I mean personally I don't do twitter. But I think a fan of a school reaching out to a interested recruit is slightly different than trying to molest a child

Because unlike you I understand that it is what it is, and Im not making it something it isnt. If you compare it to molesting a child you need to be smacked. No one deserves that kind of accusation.
