OK guys, my question to Volnation is this....You know alot of us wanted to know when or if Crompton would turn the corner....Now that he has had 2 solid games in a row against a couple of stellar defenses, and played very well against UGA and has a good string of games together, do you guys think he finally has turned the corner...I was a big cautious on thinking it before this weekend, and I know he didn't burn it up this weekend but he played well enough to win the game by managing it...So I would have to say that I think he has turned the corner....What's you all's thoughts?

He's managing the offense much better, but he still scares me to death. He still throws into coverage and stares down receivers a little too often.

He still scares me at times too but not near like he used to....At the beginning of the season when he dropped back to pass I used to just cover my head and hope to God he either actually hit the intended WR or threw it in the dirt or something...He had an instance Saturday night when he reverted back to his old ways for a play

He has turn the corner from awful to serviceable. He and the coaches have learned what he is good at. We still need an upgrade to move forward.

I agree with that...but serviceable is all we ever needed with our defense. Early in the season Crompton gave away some games with turnovers and made some mistakes he's not making anymore. What a difference not turning the ball over makes huh?

I like what I'm seeing from him as of late,but I still worry that he might be capable of reverting.

he played nowhere near stellar Saturday. he played average at best in that game.
he has had a few good ones but they sure don't outnumber the bad...he lost ucla by himself and contributed heavily to loss vs AUB although the wr's did not help him...had he been competent at all vs florida maybe we had a legit shot there....He did play well vs WKU, UGA, and Bammer

Yes, he's turned the corner, look at what he was doing last year and earlier this year and where he is at now.

Yes, I'm still scared that he's going to revert, but I don't hold my breath every time he takes a snap.

Hes making basic throws that aid the running game. At least hes not losing the game for us like he was earlier

At the beginning of the season, I had to hold my breathe every time he went back to throw. Now, I seem a lot more at ease for some reason when he's back there.

I'm proud he is a vol. He might not be the best QB ever, but he has never quit. I don't think to many people could have handled what he has went through and stuck it out like he has.

The thing with Crompton, which I thought would never happen, is that he found his confidence. He doesn't beat himself up after mistakes which is why I believe he turned the corner and isn't looking back. All of last year he never had a good game passing and we won games last year when we reverted to running the ball alot.

Now he knows he can make the tight passes so even after an interception(ex. Bama game) it doesn't phase him as much and he is able to forget about it. I am truly happy for him because he is finally getting the love he wanted for playing at Tennessee.

He is peaking around the corner. He got lucky on more than a couple of passes against SC.

I think JC knows CLK has his back and he's not so worried about being benched...this is allowing him to relax a little and just play football...

CLK is doing a good job of gameplanning/playcalling which is allowing JC to do what he is best at. Altough his best is not heisman caliber it is allowing us to win games and that is all we can ask for. We will go through the same thing next year with Tyler Bray (or what ever incoming Freshman we bring in); we will have to wait until they gain confindence on the field to be able to make crucial play on their own.

It is sad that he doesn't have another year to grow under Kiffin. I think he has turned the corner and the game is starting to come to him (slowing down). He still has problems picking up a blitz every now and then, but again it might be the receivers not picking up the blitz and running the right route. Example against SC on the second play, SC went to there O Coverage and Crompton burned them. With more time in the system he could develop into an excellent quarterback. I do admire him for not quitting.
I'll quit rambling now.

I'd say it was one of his poorest games of the year considering there were at most two drops. OTOH, the playcalling was conservative and USC's DB's are for real.
he has had a few good ones but they sure don't outnumber the bad...

Sure he did... if you assign him blame for WR's dropping passes, running the wrong routes, running the right route incorrectly, making the wrong reads,....

The O was still taking baby steps when they hit G'ville. No Jones. Moore made one insignificant catch. The young WR's couldn't get off coverage... and they were playing one of the best, deepest secondaries in the country. IOW's, there are few if any QB's that could have done any better with those circumstances.

JC played well vs Aub and Ohio as well. Five drops out of your first 10 passes doesn't exactly set you up for success vs Aub. Many tried to say that JC just found it at the end of that game... not true. He threw well early on too but the WR's didn't catch the ball well at all.
