Imagine getting paid 200 million for that web site. Wow unbelievable. They said they wanted access to 10 Million unique visitors each month.

You don't have to be good at what you do to get rich. Proof positive. Is this a great country or what?!

Maybe they'll turn it into something half-way professional. I've never understood how "unique visitors" = cash, though.

Looks like their strategy is (or was) give every fan base in every sport something to read, and don't worry about the quality so much.

If every fan base has a story, you'll apparently get 10 million unique visitors. Wow, indeed.

What does bleacher offer that's not on any of the other 100's of sports sites?

I guess they aren't stupider afterall

Not sure you understand how the Internet works, but I'll try to help. Every time someone posts a BR article link to a message board with the headline, "HEY LOOK AT THIS MORON ON BR," a ton of people click the link, which drives advertising revenue to the site owner. They can generate solid advertising revenue by being so stupid that people people love to make fun of them. All they have to do is continue being popular for being dumb. Really, they just have to continue being popular. Turner must think that's a good bet.

Frequently updated content for hundreds of sports teams. Plus, all of that content is basically free, as it's created by unpaid contributers.

From a purely internet marketing viewpoint, the website's business model is brilliant.

It also benefits from the fact that people now prefer to read opinion pieces, even from anonymous bloggers, over traditional news stories written by legitimate journalists who take the time to research their stories and fact check.

People don't like having to think for themselves--they'd rather have someone else tell them what their opinion should be.

Thank you for clearing that up.

You keep calling them stupid and working a 9 to 5, while they cash in 200M

the smartest people in the world aren't the richest....Obviously, the currency of intelligence doesn't buy you as much as cash money :)

Turner buying BR validates every crappy thought that I have ever had about the website. Going to cancel my subscription now.....

TCM is a great channel, but I wouldn't give 200 farthings for Bleacher Report.
