Turf at Neyland?

Synthetic field turf is nice, and well-done (certainly nothing like the old astro-turf), but I'm not sure how much I like the idea of having it installed in Neyland....

I guess if it happens we'll just have to get used to it

Just got a text from GVX that CDD is hinting around of possible synthetic turf at Neyland. This would be my first disagreement with CDD. Don't put in fake turf!!!!

With all the advancements in synthetic turf, I don't know why everybody doesn't go to it. After the initial investment, it has to be a heck of a lot cheaper to maintain. And it looks and plays just like natural grass.

It doesn't really look at all like natural grass, especially in outdoor stadiums. I'd personally prefer they stay with natural grass.

I'm no sure how I feel about it. I do have a buddy that works on the grounds crew, so I guess he would be out of a job.

I understand where he is coming from but no way would I like turf back in Neyland.

Is Ole Miss the only SEC school currently using the FieldTurf? I can't think of any others, but I might be wrong. I'm sure this stuff is great in places up north where it snows frequently and tears up the field. I know this is why the Patriots switched a few years back. I really hope they don't bring the turf back in Knoxville.

Would look amazing, but turf is soooooooooooooooo hot... Our school got it last year and it was god awful to play on. So easy to get hurt, you slip every where, it makes the field like 120 degrees (living in florida) .. Its only for looks

All I am saying is if its anything like MTSU or Memphis the little rubber pieces they put in the turf gets extremely hot especially on the feet. I know it would suck when they played in a Sept day game.

Stay all natural, I'm not a big fan of field turf. Surely they can afford the up keep of the natural grass. But It would be great if our local tn high schools could go to field turf because it would save the high schools money but alot of them can't afford to put it in.

Bad idea. Pretty sure he is just making a comment to the crowd. This would never happen given all the money TN has put into that turf.
