How will Tucker be counted? Against last year or for the upcoming year? Was also wondering how she will be rated, last year or this year for the team rankings?

We currently have ten scholarship players. The women can have fifteen on scholarship. Meighan Simmons is the lone senior. Next year we will have thirteen scholarship players, as of right now.

Since Jannah Tucker is enrolling in January, she will, I believe, have four years to play four. Given her situation and the fact that she is coming off of an acl injury, I think it is very unlikely that they attempt to work her into actively playing this season, although I would not be surprised if she practiced with the team.

13 scholarship players for next year ? that is good to hear,it will be nice not to be so worried about 1 or 2 injuries then, knock on wood hopefully the Lady Vols stay healthy this year

since she hasn't enrolled yet, shouldn't she have 5 years to play 4 ?

There is no rule reason why Tucker could not play once she is enrolled in classes at UT. However, as I mentioned earlier, she is coming off an acl injury and has not been involved in organized ball for a year. Given her personal situation, no one, except Tucker, knows what her conditioning situation is like. It is really unlikely that she will be in shape to play this season.

The reason I said 4 to play 4 is because she is coming in to school in mid-season and I believe the fact that she is in residence will start the clock running as to her 5 year window. Thus, leaving her 4 to play 4 starting next season.

I thought the clock didn't start ticking until you played a game or am I misunderstanding what you're trying to say.

that makes sense Jim,the clock should start running as soon as she gets on campus,I'm like you, nobody knows if she will try to play any this year or not,I would just take a guess and say probably not,but who knows

I do wish her the best though and it is just awesome that things worked out and she has came to play ball for the Mighty Lady Vols

The clock starts ticking as far as your eligibility as soon as you enroll in classes. You have 5 calendar years to use your 4 years of athletic eligibility, unless the NCAA grants a waiver. Jaimie Carey, the player who transferred from Stanford to Texas is an example of a player who received a 6th year of eligibility for medical reasons.

So then there's a possibility she may be playing early next year?! That's got me excited for sure.
Basketball is an outlet for a lot of ppl so I'm glad she's back with the team and moving forward.

She'll be a nice addition to the team.

If she plays in the fall, it will be sweet to see her & Nared come off the bench. We'll be pretty deep compared to this year.

another example, Candice didn't play her first year as she recovered from her knee injury. There was some talk or speculation that she might play starting in February given that there was little belief she would be at TN more than four years. It didn't happen.

And based on the rule, unfortunately her fourth year of eligibility is now gone. ;+)

Sorry to be out of the loop but I thought she decided to not join the lady vols. Has she changed her mind?

Due to personal problems she had to change her enrollment to January. She will not play this season but will practice with the team.

Jannah will practice with the team once she enrolls, but will not play this season. If she plays next year, she will be included with the incoming Class of 2014, and will have four years of eligibility.

She will enroll in school in January, but will not play until next year. She will begin a lifting and rehab regimen, but will likely not practice full-time with the team during the spring semester. She will be eligible to do so if she wishes and is in condition to do so.

She will technically have four years to play four beginning next fall because of her mid-year enrollment, but I would imagine that with the circumstances she has faced, she would have a good chance at a medical hardship waiver (commonly called a medical redshirt) for another year if she were to be injured and have to miss most of a season in the future.
