Ronald Powell and Dominique Easley didn't show up for practice yesterday.

Word is they are upset with the treatment from upperclassmen, who are demanding they study the playbook better and give more effort at practice.

Pouncey was quoted along the lines of saying some of the freshmen were "too cocky" and they haven't accomplished anything yet.

Stay tuned.....

Pouncey's quote...

Senior center Mike Pouncey on the freshmen coming in overconfident: "Everybody needs to come in with that type of attitude, but at the end of the day the freshmen need to shut their mouths and come play. They haven't done nothing on Saturday and most of the fans don't even know who they are. Until they prove themselves, they need to sit back and let the older guys play.

"That whole recruiting class is cocky."

I've been to Gainesville and you're misrepresenting it.

Until they prove themselves, they need to sit back and let the older guys play.

wow, sounds like more than just the freshmen being cocky. What's he going to say if they end up starting? Has to start from the top down though

I took it to mean they've shown nothing in practice to warrant running with the first team, or running their mouths. I don't have a problem with Pouncey speaking out and showing some senior leadership.

Pouncey's been abusing those guys in practice, and UF's coaches have said they thought Powell would be further along by now.

From all accounts Shariff Floyd is a monster and is tearing it up in practice.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the true florida fans know who Ronald Powell and Dominique Easley are.

They'll be suspended for the first 30 seconds of practice. That Urban is a strict disciplinarian. Nothing comes of this, is my guess

Do a little homework...it's definitely being talked about on the blogs...

Here is the only info that I have at this moment: There are conflicting reports coming out of Gainesville and UAA is not addressing anything at the moment. There is a presser about 12:15 which we hope they will, but nobody has returned calls regarding the matter.

There, indeed, may have been some kind of dispute or incident involving Powell and Easley -- we don't know yet.

Regarding Powell and Easley leaving the team, one source close to the team said "it's not true -- they are still there" (in Gainesville). So that was the reason this thread said earlier "Not True!"

In a PM sent to me, an unknown source said he learned that Powell and Easley has left the team.

So at this hour we have four people on the ground in Gainesville, trying to figure out what's true and what's not. We will have a full report as soon as we can get it.

There was some emotional blowback from the altercation and a very hard camp in which some of the veteran linemen (like CJ) have taken exception to a bit of the freshmen smack and have put them in their place a bit. Meyer has addressed it with the team already.

I was told that things have been smoothed over and we should expect P & E to return to practice. More as I receive it.

* John Brantley said that preparation for the season opener is going fine.

* When asked about this freshman class, Brantley said the freshmen have come in and worked hard. he doesn't see any difference this year from years past in how they are being treated by the upperclassmen.

* Brantley said he knows about the rumors of Ronald Powell and Dominique Easley not showing up for practice. He called it a team matter that will be handled behind closed doors.

I would have to disagree. This is sounding like good senior leadership to me, telling the freshmen they don't need to be cocky because they haven't accomplished anything yet, and telling them to work harder is no big deal at all. JMO

Now if he got in a fist fight with Powell then I would agree with you , that he just needs to back off and cool off.

Hell, I wouldn't care if Powell and Pouncey threw down in practice. That happens all the time in training camp.

I like Pouncey's leadership. He's been through plenty of SEC and BCS battles, so I'll take him at his word about some of the freshmen thinking they've arrived when they haven't done squat.
