Some games for me will not work correctly in multiplayer. It seems all of the Rockstar games I have this problem with. I really want to play Red Dead Redemption online but I can't. I get connected to free roam about one out of every 5-6 tries and I never last longer than 5 minutes before I'm booted out.
I was always told to try to get the NAT to open. Well, I've tried the guide on portforward.com and a few other things and I've never been able to correctly get it for some reason or another.
I will try to give a step-by-step description of how I've got things laid out. When I move next month I won't have this problem more than likely because I'm going back to the good old cable modem which I can't get out here where I currently am.
Anyway, I have DSL out here through Century Link (used to be Embarq). The phone line from the wall has the DSL plug that runs straight into a Zyxel EQ-660R. This unit has a plug where the phone line goes in and one more plug for internet connection. So, I have a cable from that to my router which is a Netgear WGR614V7 router.
I thought maybe it was because it was having to pass through this Zyxel unit was the problem. So, I hooked the 360 STRAIGHT into the Zyxel modem and still had the same issue. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Or anyone that can give me a bit of advice here? I can take the tedious steps and retry to set up a static IP address again and do the port forwarding and all of that junk but I tried that a couple of times in the past and its never worked when I've tried it before.
Any help greatly appreciated - I want to play Red Dead online dang it!
