Are we ready to admit that it was a mistake to not give him a shot in lieu of hiring DC? He couldn't have been any worse and he aleady knew the players.

I have a better one......It was a mistake to let fulmer comeback after 05.

No. We would have been just as bad, but Trooper would have been the scapegoat and Fulmer would be given more chances.

It was a mistake not to give ANYBODY a shot before Dave Clawson. The poor guy seems like a nice enough man, but enough of the deer-in-the-headlights looks already. I feel sorry for him, knowing the kind of pressure he and his family must be under, but I would take Randy Sanders over Dave Clawson ANY day.

I don't know that im ready to call for Clawson's head, i read that 30% of the plays from the booth are changed by the HC on the sideline. So that means that Clawson calls 70% of the snaps, but when and where the 30% occurs more than likely plays a big part.

That said, the guy is probably gone, I'd expect the new Regime to have the leeway to change their staff at will.

bold statement LIO...and I only see trooper as a positions coach. don't think he can run an offense even if he put more points on the board than Dave.

meh, i'm not set on him yet...he's a great rb/wr positions coach so i would gladly have him back for that or something; but he's co-coordinator at Ok st. so i'm not sure how much is him and how much the other guy

I don't think Taylor or Gunter Brewer have a whole lot of coordinator responsibility at OK St, Gundy handles just about everything offensively.

I don't think anyone knows how much tt contributes. But its ridiculous to discount his impact on that offense. Beats ours any day of the week and I would welcome tt's enthusiasm.

I don't think we would have seen much, if any, improvement. Of the 70 or so % of plays that Clawson gets to call, our offensive line manages to mess up 10% pre-snap. The receivers drop another 10%. Add in another 25% of plays where the o-line can't block. Throw in a fumble here and there.

Our offense hasn't had a chance to do anything, because its fate has been sealed before we snap the ball.

If he is calling 70% of the plays and we are gaining @200yds a game, he SUCKS!!! 70% playcalling should produce points and yards if his offense was any good. And that is assuming that Phil's plays are gianing zero yards. This offense has had 9 games to show something...it has done anything but that. Take the rose colored glasses off people!!! We are terrible in every facet of the game with this entire staff!!

I was ALL for giving Trooper a shot. He might not be calling the plays for Okie State but he is part of the 3 man offensive game planning each week. He makes suggestions during the game and Gundy makes the final decisions.

Gundy is the man calling the shots, Trooper has very little influence on playcalling, if any

Trooper wouldn't have done any better then Clawson. Maybe he could have gotten players like Arrogant Foster to play with more heart, but he's not a sophisticated offensive mind

Very close to my feelings on the matter. Good observation, LIO.

If TT was the OC this year, the offense would be 70-30 Fulmer's instead of the 70-30 Clawson that it is now. We all saw the results of that in '05, and it wasn't pretty either.

TT is the WR coach at OSU. End of story. There offense was good last, is a year older, and they are much better on defense. This Trooper stuff is ridiculous and old.

David Cutcliffe = Job security for Fulmer. Cutcliffe was a dam good coach. I don't care what anyone says. People can say Cutcliffe is Fulmer lite but in reality Fulmer is Cutcliffe lite. Cutcliffe leaves and our program starts a steady decline. Cutcliffe comes back and within 2 years we're playing for the SEC championship. Cutcliffe leaves again and the very next year we are looking at another losing season. It's hard to ignore the facts.

Trooper is absolutely helping OK state. My buddy is an alum and he says, while it might not be all him, TT is definitely bringing something to the table. I always liked troop and didn't want him to leave. My friend thanks me every week for giving him TT!!
