Auburn dude seems accurate and factual, while the UT fan looks like an embarrassing rumor-mongering nitwit.
I gathered that generally was happening based on your prior post, and that's pretty much what I'm confused aobut.
At what point, if ever, has the NCAA ruled that the player's have been acting as an agent. That's what has me baffled about this. The not contact rules are pretty specific about no one on behalf of the university acting as its agent. But then you have the players with unbridled access to the recruits in fact if not by rule.
If its just a free for all with them contacting recruits? If so, why isn't every program having their players call recruits no stop? Or are they?
I understand that now that I reread the Iowa article, and stated exactly that when I referenced it in the prior post.
And while you are technically correct, its pretty obvious that if Kutcher and Moore were Mr. and Mrs. Jones from Des Moines, this wouldn't have been an "Unintended Secondary" that Iowa would have reported. The fact that they were famous and took pictures with recruits was the issue. The issue wasn't that they were season ticket holders or posters on an athletic board that promotes Iowa atletics or donors or random fans chanting go Hawkeyes.
Its a side issue to the thread in general though.
By the way, you can just say, the NCAA makes up the meaning of the rules as it enforces them haphazardly and capriciously and I'd be satisfied.
they are calling. they all do it.
IMO, the rules intent is against university employees not authorized to recruit and boosters, ticket holders, donors, fans, etc of a university. I don't think they care about players.
Here is another example, it is not far fetched that next year, year after, sometime, you have Ray Drew calling Tiny to transfer to Georgia or vice versus, Tiny calling Ray. They became good friends in recruiting and they will talk all the time. think they might not suggest a transfer?
So I am clear are we talking about a receiver from last years team? If so that's a glove slap on the VFL. Somebody send out the enforcers, VFL is like the mafia right? Once in always in unless you sleep with the fishes!

Actually, its more than rumor-mongering. There were overlaps between the Auburn and the former Colonial Bank of Trustees, like Pat Dye. And the FBI is investigating Colonial and Lowder for illegal lending practices.
So his points aren't completely baseless rumors.

The FBI is investigating Colonial, and the AU Board of Trustee's has a few members that are also Directors/work for Colonial. That's how I know. I did some research. Not hard...
And that's a real big difference than saying Auburn is under FBI inquiry, which was precisely the point your Auburn friend made to you.

Very very interesting information, the gist of which makes perfect sense;
Trooper is a low down dirt bag and GJ cant get away from UT quick enough;
Trooper used GJ to seal the deal with Gabe; Gabe got played too which means he really doesnt have much character or sense
Still don't understand how he can say he couldn't persuade him on a place he's never been (assumption: knows little about) but then says he said a lot of positive things about Auburn.
How does Wright get his number? Who was it from? If TT gave it to him, they've kept in touch? And being in touch he would know of GJ's frustrations, issues, etc. Does anyone realize this was a recruiting no-no? If GJ hates anyone beside coaches selling a school, why did he spend so long on a call talking positives? If you love your school, why even pitch another school you claim to know little about?
It would benefit him to keep his mouth shut now. Because of what he did, it could easily bring 'AA in to look deeper. Phone records are an easy thing to look up. If it was TT's phone things could get hairy. Opening his mouth has now put him on the record. And I wonder since he's still on scholly why Dooley would let him get on the radio or talk to the press at this point? A lot of questions. And this thing really stinks on many fronts.
I have not gotten, myself, confirmation that Gerald talked to Wright. I've seen all the message board postings but that is not confirmation.
Assuming it happened, that could very well be context of a conversation. Know knows the conversations but those involved and they could have different versions. Happens all the time in ocnversations.
Neither of those reports say the FBI is investigating Auburn. So that claim was and remains an unsupported rumor, mostly propagated by those beacons of credibility, known as Alabama fans.
