Trip Report - First Timer Coming In For Florida Game

Hi all. Some of you wanted to hear from me after my trip, so I'll make my (likely last) post on VolNation. I got to Knoxville Fri afternoon and left Sat night. My verdict is an A+. Had an awesome time. Only wish I had more time on game day to get around. Special thanks to @clarencepeabody for inviting me to his tailgate...so sorry I couldn't make it. I walked campus on Fri and then went to Stock & Barrel for bourbon and burgers...an excellent choice, so thanks @DC_Vol . Stayed at the bar there long enough to meet 3 sets of interesting people, including a VolNation member who I didn't get your name...but you recognized me as Yankee Dave . After a long time there and trying 6 bourbons, got to Black Horse Brewery (wouldn't recommend) and Chivos Tequila Bar (good).

I feel like we beat the system with a brilliant parking strategy. Parked for free off Clinch Ave Fri evening and Uber back to hotel. Sat morning, Uber back to car to stow our bags and walk to campus. Easy out after the game. Yankee ingenuity?

Game day was fantastic. The atmosphere was electric the whole day. Could tell you guys are ready to bust out after some lean years. Stopped by Game Day until noon and then got caught in foot traffic that prevented us from making our tailgating invite. Did have front row for the band marching in...very good. Once inside the stadium...wow! The checkerboard orange and white might be the best look in CFB. I'll admit that it is cooler than the PSU white-out visually. We sat in row 1 of the second level in LL, right behind the goal posts. Great view of the field. Glad for cloudy skies! The energy in the stadium was off the charts....and all game long. Great fans. I will say I don't know how you let the Gators back into the game at the end...but it certainly made it exciting for me. Luckily for you, the UF coach is a dumbass. 2 point conversion try???

I'm very glad we chose Knoxville and this game this year. People we met were friendly. I only got one pedophile joke while wearing my PSU jersey . Thanks to all of you who gave me advice. If I had more time, would have liked to get closer to the VolNavy, spend more time in the tailgating areas, and go to Old Town. Gotta save something for next time, I guess! Thank you all. How about PSU vs Vols in the CFB playoffs?
