Just ran a 10.00 100-meter dash

That means by transitive property, he should have ran a 4.0 40 yard dash....That is pure speed. I know you add the pads, and the grass, but kid is flat out fast. We need to get kids like this at UT and make explosive playmakers.

Just thought I'd let you all know about Trindon's accomplishment today.

Your 4.0 40 theory is flawed, as your slowest speeds will be at the beginning of a run when you are accelerating from not moving to top speed. The longer you are at your top speed, the faster your average rate of speed would be. You are at your top speed a lot longer with 100 meters/yards than with 40.

Follow?

I know, he would run like a 4.25 at a combine. But he is clearly the fastest player in college track and field, and football this year and I wouldn't mind having someone like him (even being 5'5) on our roster.

Chris Johnson with the Titans runs a similar speed..

Would be awesome to have someone that fast in orange..

Usain Bolt wouldn't even run a sub-4.0 40, and he ran a 9.69 in the 100m while coasting for at least the last 10 or 15 m.

That flaming dude from the Fantastic Four is pretty fast as well. Maybe Lane could sign him to a scholarship.

We did. His name was Leonard Scott who had a PR of 9.91 in the 100. Sure (track) speed is great, but it doesn't always transition onto the field.

Leonard Scott couldn't catch Syphilis in a whore house.

There's also the issue of how guys run with pads on. Everyone runs differently in pads, so some really fast guys may lose more speed than other guys. They really should run the forty in full gear.

If I'm not mistaking, Jonathan Wade was a track stud when he came to UT as a freshman.

Sometimes it's best for your Trindon Hollidays and Leonard Scotts just return kicks and punts.

Wade ran a 10.06 in high school, which is almost unheard of at that age. Again, doesn't always translate in short spurts on a football field.

Jeff Powell could run like a deer back in the day. I'm certain that Vinny's Canes recall that.

Holliday has well south of 1000 yds of total offense in his 3 seasons at LSU. Speed is great but give me the guy with a little less speed and more football skills.

Football really isn't about speed as much as it is about acceleration, because rarely do you get to run in a straight line, unimpeded. Al Davis loves to sign guys with raw track speed, and they almost never become good football players.

Take Barry Sanders on the other hand. He was fast, but not very in NFL terms. But he could stop on a dime and accelerate so fast it was uncanny. That's what it takes to be an elite football player.

The reason florida has such fast players is that when they time them in the 40 they use a burglar alarm to start the race.
