Trent Dilfer offers 'unique perspective' on Josh Heupel's recruiting ability

“And that’s more than talent. You need to understand that. There are tons of talented kids out there. They are everywhere. The streets are littered with them — meaning they don’t make it. Because they don’t have it up here (head) and up here (heart), what it takes to be a big-time collegiate football player. And the University of Tennessee has recognized that. And they’re recruiting the right kind of kid as well as the right kind of athlete.”

I tend to agree with Dilfer. UT has had some really good recruiting classes under the last several HC's and still had losing seasons.

So 5 star heart is back!

A whole slew of Pilot Oil stations?
Or see what A&M offers. See if bama and georgia want to match. He’s a highest bidder recruit. Good news is that 2 of those schools may decide they like what they have at a lower price.

We’ll don’t you know how to kill what seemed like good vibes?

Facts, I would be stoked right now. This is going to be the Tennessee's powerhouse that recruits kids from all across the nation it seems like. Would be nice to get some guys like the Spillman brothers, Kaleb Beasley, etc from here in the future

Didn't we hear the same thing when Butch Jones was here? Until we make a serious bowl (Cotton, Sugar etc) and play in the SEC championship game then I will reserve judgement. I'll admit it is an improvement over losing to Georgia St. and the likes, but still a ways to go.

Butch Jones was an amazing recruiter. Just couldn't develop talent, hurt his players with his way too physical practices, and created a bad culture.

Pruitt took raw talent and molded it into a steaming pile of donkey &#%!.

Huepel took the talent he inherited and seems to be molding it into... something... better.

Probably.

Maybe.

Hopefully.

Meeehhh who knows.

He won’t commit until esd at the earliest because he’s waiting to see how big the offer gets.
Offers won't stop coming just because he's committed. If Nolen commits to ANYWHERE, and Saban truly wants him, you think he stops just because of a "commitment"? Kirby, Kiffin? NEVER stop recruiting the players you truly want. Be relentless until the ink is dry.

Considering this is a coach who’s Elite 11 QB we haven’t offered (yet), that’s high praise

This is good because when you're trying to rebuild, you can't have a lot of misses due to a lack of maturity or character issues. 4 and 5 stars only matter if they stay in your program 3-5 years.

The list of 4 and 5 star kids who didn't make it due to character issues is pretty long. Oklahoma is down to 2 scholarship RBs (one is Gray, used to be UT's) because one kid transferred in from LSU and then transferred back to LSU last month. Another is charged with armed robbery from a drug deal gone bad with two other former OU players. It's hard enough to win without shooting yourself in the foot by brining in trouble.

Just Look at Butch Jones‘ classes and you will see this writ large
