Travis Henry pleads guilty to one charge...

Wow, he was trying to corner the Billings, Montana cocaine market. Gotta hand it to him for his big aspirations.

On one hand he was one of the 4 or 5 best running backs Ive ever seen at UT. When he had the ball it was 5 yards....mark it down. On the other, he simply ruined his life. Sad.

Travis was one of my all-time favorite UT players. He never let the first guy take him down. I've never seen another player use the stiff arm as effectively as him. Cheese held a special place in my heart, Saturdays in fall at Neyland yelling "Cheeeeeesseeee!" as he broke free. Mmm, man he fell on some rough times. :cray:

Hate to see this, but there is no one to blame but himself. Make stupid decisions and this is what happens.

His game winning TD against Arkansas in '98 will forever be burned into my memory.

He still has a chance, heart and lungs working. It does not end in a casket....call me crazy....better to run a ground early in the jouney, than to think the ground is the journey. Poor man's trademark. Good luck to Travis...guess if he was starting for an NFL team, things would be different, but if he was starting for an NFL team, things would be different.

His junior season... and he was an unpaid college athlete coming off of a major surgery and possibly jeopardizing his NFL future...

It's very odd to me that the overwhelming majority of Vol fans have no knowledge of the fact that Jamal Lewis experienced subluxation in his shoulder (his shoulder would pop out of joint) throughout his junior season when he was hit. His performance during his junior season was nothing short of miraculous given the circumstances.

 WTF? Have you been partaking of Travis Henry's product?

His life might not be over, but his NFL career is.

From what I read, sounded like he had one heck of a lawyer. It could have been a lot worse.

For those who knew Travis in college, the warning signs were there. The man never demonstrated the slightest impulse control. He was always broke and one of his favorite lines to greet people with was "lemme hold five dollars". It is a tragedy that he found so many willing women to impregnate so they could raise fatherless children. Whether it was gambling on the team bus in Buffalo or selling cocaine from a van, Travis lived a life that was sadly marked by bad choices.

Many of these young men need more mentoring. I wish I could have done more to help Jamal (who is doing much better now but should never have had to spend time in jail for a bad choice with an old friend that cost him years of freedom and millions of dollars)

For every Darwin Walker who took his NFL money and built a business empire, there seem to be 5 Travis Henry's. Eric Berry does not need mentoring, but track it back and you will see that many young men at TN do need that help:

These are the guys with the physical ability to be millionaires, but they threw it all away. Now what about guys who made it to the NFL? Problems are not done. Many end up bankrupt because they did not trust anyone to protect them from their own foolish financial choices. Like most lottery winners, most NFL players end up spending all their money on depreciating assets and end up with little to show for their millions. It is very sad.

I am praying for Travis. I hope we start to find ways to help avoid more like him in the future.

Travis can forever wear the label, 'government snitch'. You don't get caught with that much dope, and walk away with 3 years. I'll bet once Travis started talking, they had to slap him to shut him up.
