Thankful we have AD White and HC Heupel even of i didn’t enjoy the path we took to get here.

They found the fan outrage a bit disingenuous, which it was. Let's be real. Schiano was a terrible fit here and the outrage was largely disingenuous. Both can be true.

Having said that, I think Wolken's dislike of Tennessee is personal and stems from him being a Vandy grad + working in Memphis media for years. We know he had some kind of previously existing relationship with Currie. I think he was looking forward to the potential information that could be obtained from that, but then the fans blew that hire up and Currie was fired himself shortly thereafter.

With Forde, I am not sure what his exact angle would be, but he also appears to have some kind of personal dislike of the University; perhaps he doesn't have great sources here, or something happened in the past between him and someone associated with UT. For years now, he has always been uber-quick to post "I told you so" columns or tweets to UT and the fanbase; I don't really think you do that unless there's some kind of personal animus, plus he knows VolTwitter will engage him.

In my opinion, the revolt was a result of a fanbase that was tired of continuously underwhelming hires over and over again expecting a different result. Yeah, the Sandusky scandal and all that may have also had a hand in it but overall the fanbase wanted to hire a winning coach and used it as ammunition to get what they want. If we are being honest, Schiano wasn't going to win here either. Theres a reason Ohio State didnt even give him interim HC during Meyers suspension in 2018. I don't really remember anyone big coming after him either for a HC job. Hes not a great HC. Eventually they settled AGAIN with Pruitt. Now, if Heupel does lead UT back to relevance then it will eventually make this article obsolete.

Pat throws a hissy fit against Tennessee fans, rooted in popularized ignorance among his clueless 'elite media' ilk, misreading why the fans revolted. Us unenlightened Tennessee fans are told we should have not questioned mediocrity, as our administration flushes our proud Tennessee football program down the toilet. We are chastised for demanding excellence from our apathetic lazy administrators who refuse to correct a decade of squandering the resources and proud tradition of this program. If we had only embraced mediocrity, we would not have ended up with Pruitt. Bad fans. Bad! Good grief.

I guess everyone had their own reason(s) for not wanting Schiano hired. I was disappointed with our recent google search hires at the time, but the allegations that Schiano knew something horrible was going on and didn’t stop it was why I didn’t want him hired. If he would have been hired and won 8 NCs, I wouldn’t have supported UT athletics anymore. I love the Browns too, but I won’t watch any games with Watson at QB. I don’t believe 30 something people all made up the same story. I don’t believe an NFL QB would want like 50 different masseuses unless there was something fishey going on.

This is so embarrassing for him. He was never really all that much but wow has he fallen.

Think about it. When was the last time you honestly heard this guys name. He has to resort to this just make a small ripple.
