What did Brandon Pennell do?
His SEC stats were better than many of SEC only stats for Burke and CMO. Clark will be a beast in 2027. He MUST return!Didn’t realize Levi played so well in SEC play. He frustrates me bc the potential to be an all sec player is there. If that kid figures it out he has the ability to hit 20+ homeruns
McKee is right, but that issue wasn’t exclusive to Tennessee. The college baseball world was in the same predicament, and still is.“But the end of the Tony Vitello era was very unorganized in terms of managing the roster and budgeting and crunching the numbers financially and roster limit wise. It was very messy. It was not an easy transition for Josh Elander in that regard. Even in October, when the roster you would think is already set. And so it was a really difficult transition for Josh Elander.”
Interesting comments here from McKee on the latest Diamond Vols pod from the other day…interested to see how Elander shapes this team and how he deals with the portal!
I always wonder how these recruits react to not being the best player on the field anymore when they step on a college campus. Some embrace it and thrive. Others can’t handle it.Not speaking specifically about these particular players you are naming but there are some misconceptions about how good some are from their families. They think because they were good high school players they will be good to great college players but some don't transition well. Some don't deal well with failure. They are great showcase guys but lack the ability to deal with change. The everybody gets a trophy mindset makes these guys expect guarantees. Some coaches will lie and give it then do what they want when you get there. Proudly, Tony and Josh won't do that.
I would disagree with Tony being Type B. There was nothing about Tony that is Type B. He is hardcore type A. It may appear on the outside that way but it was his way or the highway in every area of the program. That will be his downfall in pros. He was responsible for every decision made.
Thanks. I know all about Taylor and her lies about CKW, but I wasn’t aware of the dad and his nonsense. The apple doesn’t fall far I guess.@NighthawkVol don't want to hijack a baseball thread for a softball player issue. But you are a good poster and deserve an answer.
Taylor Pannell is a two year player at Tennessee softball whom left last year for Texas Tech. Her father Brandon Pannell allegedly knew Taylor was going to transfer and trashed Tennessee Softball under a burner account for months prior.
Taylor put herself in an unenviable postion after Tennesse beat Texas Tech last Saturday by fabricating a story about comments from CKW during the handshake line. Debunked by ESPN.
Brandon who still post here occasionally has ignored the controversy and doubled down with trashing Tennessee. He contents Taylor was paid $750,000 to transfer to Texas Tech. Problem is the deal was struck long before the portal opened causing CKW to comment on unscrublious recruiting tactics.
He’s been here for 3 years and is still a 1/3 of a game mid-week guy. Hunter’s bidded his time and done all he’s been asked to do; at the end of the day he wants to play baseball and knows that’s not going to happen in bunches at UT. This isn’t an example of someone being overly impatient or greedy.Sad that a lot of these players with potential will continually chase a better "perceived" opportunity or immediate playing time early in their career instead of sticking around with a solid program and developing. NIL has made that path all the more rarer. And I don't mean that as a slight towards Mr. High personally because everyone is doing it and all the teams are now having to dole out an NIL budget amongst players. Some of these kids need to look at the career arcs of Christian Moore, Blake Burke, Kavares Tears(Redshirted) and even this year with Reece Chapman who went undrafted last year and came back and improved his stock tremendously. Not playing or redshirting your freshman year isn't the end of the world. Best of luck to the young man and I hope he succeeds wherever he ends up.

I’d say I want to see the actual stats. Looking at Burke’s 24 numbers, he would have lead this team in virtually every category. 1st team AA by every publication. If Levi did that in SEC play, then kudos, but I’m skeptical.“What if I told you Levi Clark had more homers and RBIs this year in SEC play than Blake Burke did as a junior in 2024? Could even kick in that his slugging percentage was higher, his OBP was very close and he walked more.” Mike Wilson, On3
Wow! I’m almost speechless. Just an astonishing fact on Levi Clark.
100%. He barely saw the field. Looks like he was always a a team guy and did whatever asked. He may not be an SEC starter, but he le certianky start at a lot of programs. He deserves to play.My rebuttal to this:
- Moore played his freshman year
- Burke played his freshman year
- Tears redshirted but played a little bit his true sophomore year
- Chapman played 15 games his freshman year and then 50 his sophomore year
High is a junior with 35 career AB’s, can’t blame him for wanting to go get guaranteed AB’s somewhere
I am surprised by it but Clark was sneaky good in SEC play. He hit .292, had 9 homers that was tied for the most on team and had 27 RBI’s that was best on the team. In comparison Burke hit .341, had 7 HR’s and 24 RBI’s in conference play in the 2024 season.I’d say I want to see the actual stats. Looking at Burke’s 24 numbers, he would have lead this team in virtually every category. 1st team AA by every publication. If Levi did that in SEC play, then kudos, but I’m skeptical.
Astonishing stats for sure. Clark was very good in SEC play. If Wilson says it, you can likely take it to the bank.I’d say I want to see the actual stats.
