If a miracle could take place and G. Wright came back, I would begin to get excited about next year. Easily, our best overall player this year. Strong 2nd place was Ford, but Wright brought it everyday.
When should the big list of targets come out? I know the Sanford player is visiting but do you have any knowledge of others ?The Vols only had 4 hitters with batting averages over .255 in SEC play:
Next were Marin at .254, Wright at .252, Ford at .248, and Brown at .241…
- Trent Grindlinger at .341
- Levi Clark at .293
- Reese Chapman at .284
- Blake Grimmer at .274
I don’t know but plan to study up on it tonight. The portal recruits will be very fluid. Some prospective players will be very “hush hush” so as not shine a light on them and make them higher profile for others to target. When should the big list of targets come out? I will agree, though, that Garrett was overall very high on the list of high-impact players. He made some pretty fantastic defensive plays, and his ability to get on base without a hit was almost comical. I mean, the kid turned a dropped third strike into a double! The Vols only had 4 hitters with batting averages over .255 in SEC play:

I love Wright too. But a 358 ba and the ability to catch or play center field will definitely get him drafted fairly high.If a miracle could take place and G. Didn’t realize Levi played so well in SEC play. He frustrates me bc the potential to be an all sec player is there. If that kid figures it out he has the ability to hit 20+ homerunsThe Vols only had 4 hitters with batting averages over .255 in SEC play:

Ford was Dean Curley, stats ended up okay in spite of lack of clutch hitting. These guys are compilers, not impact/clutch bats.Ford was a paper tiger. It’s just alarming that the player who has had the least amount of coaching from this staff, had the best batting average. Something ain’t right with how they’re coaching batters.
Type B probably wasn’t the best terminology. Not speaking specifically about these particular players you are naming but there are some misconceptions about how good some are from their families. They think because they were good high school players they will be good to great college players but some don't transition well. Some don't deal well with failure. They are great showcase guys but lack the ability to deal with change. The everybody gets a trophy mindset makes these guys expect guarantees. Some coaches will lie and give it then do what they want when you get there. Proudly, Tony and Josh won't do that.
I would disagree with Tony being Type B. There was nothing about Tony that is Type B. He is hardcore type A. It may appear on the outside that way but it was his way or the highway in every area of the program. That will be his downfall in pros. He was responsible for every decision made.
It has nothing to do with alpha male. He was definitely that. All I meant was that Tony was very scatter brained and all over the place. He definitely wanted things done his way and had his hands in everything. Josh is much more organized and has lots of processes and systems in place.I'm going to assume he meant it the other way around.
To be fair you didn't face the consistent velocity these kids face in yesteryear. Getting plunked with 80 poo is easy.. mid upper 90's to 100mph is a different beastYeah, all that body armor is plain silly to us OGs who remember a time where you didn't even see batting gloves.
Kinda makes me think of trying to play golf wearing hockey gear.
