WTF is Towson????? Maybe I am just clueless with small schools but I dont even know where that is. I loved the comment about Fulmer holding Clawson back.

Towson is located in Towson,Maryland a suburb of Baltimore.

Firing Gordy Combs would be equally as tough for the athletic department at Towson as it was for letting Fulmer go here at UT.

Combs has never coached anywhere else but Towson, and is an alumni of the school.

Some complete idiot sports radio guy, I think it was a national show, said Fulmer should have gotten more time while placing blame on the OC. He said Fulmer doesn't call the plays. I doubt Fulmer has been calling every play, but to say that he just needs a better staff is ludicrous at this point.

Meanwhile, the local guys who do talk radio about the Gators said they understood the change and that Tennessee will be a team to be dealt with in the near future.

I am not a huge clawson fan by any means. In my opinion he has shown me nothing to believe he is ready for the SEC, I think he would be a fine coach in DII though.

I agree with you on that.

I liked him and I backed him even through the first couple games when we were stuggling but he has shown me that like Chavis he cant make any adjustments when things are not workin right. His schemes are too slow for the SEC. Granted if he had more time and the right personel than maybe he would have been a little better but his switching lineman tactics were garbage. Our O-Line could not look any worse! Back to DII Clawsen!

they can have him. if you watched a single ut game this year it was glaringly evident that he was in waaaaaay over his head

Or we don't have the cerebral players to run the offense.
Or, his Offense may work in DII but not in the SEC. I am not a Cutty fan by any means at all but I gurantee he could have a done a whole hell of alot more with this team than Clawson.

Take our OC, please.

Our OC is the big guy in orange on the sidelines clapping. If you think it's anyone else you're living in a cloud. Fulmer's pulled his tail out of the fire before with that trick. Randy Sanders removal is starting to look more and more like Fulmer's handiwork. We NEVER got to see Clawson's offense this year and we never will. That may be good or bad but we sure can't make a decision based on what we did get to see.

We were all so excited to get a new system (or so we thought) and a change of pace to be "with" the times offensively. What we got was the same ole vanilla crap with the worst quarterback to put on the orange in years. I think the right decision was made to remove Fulmer....I just wish we'd have really gotten to see what Clawson could do with control over the offense.

I would much rather have Fulmer calling every play than Clawson calling 2 a game.

At least he would have had enough sense to run the dern ball against UCLA.

I also think we saw what Clawson with full control of the Offense looked like at UCLA. Freaking pathetic. I don't blame Fulmer at all for calling some of the plays if he did.

I can't tell who the problem is to be honest. Our offensive line is horrible, but even last year could not run block. Crompton was a huge bust, and it's hard to tell if Stephens will develop. We have a lot of the same issues we had last year on offense, the only difference is they seem to be exacerbated by the loss of Cut and Ainge. I'm not sure the blame falls squarely on anybody's shoulders at this point, but I'm sure Clawson is wishing he had a QB worth 2 cents.

As I recall after the UCLA game, JC was changing the plays that were called in. Clawson wanted to yank JC but your boy Phil said no stick with him. But hey, we'll never know really....they're both out, let's move on.

I have seen the Clawson coached Richmond team and.
We have not seen the true Clawson offense. For several reasons:
1. Our O line sucks
2. Our QB play has been horrible to say the least. Eric Ward Clawson's QB at Richmond is a mensa candidate compared to Crompton and possibly Stephens. Although I have seen a little improvement with Stephens. Although not much.
3. And this is the big one I am sure CPF would not let the man do his job.
4. He simply does not have the players in place that he wants.

This is a moot point however unless the new HC decides to keep him around.

As bad as this team is, they could still destroy Richmond.

Like I said, Clawson's Offense probably worked against teams with less talent. It doesnt work in big boy leagues against defense that have much more speed than the Richmonds of the world.

Clawson is the worst hire I can recall in a long long long time.

Remember Randy Sanders.

"As bad as this team is, they could still destroy Richmond."

Seems like someone forgot about NIU. Or Toledo beating Michigan.

So the big boy league argument doesn't hold much water, with scholarship limits and the like. We are seeing a lot of players who might have gone to a power conference schools playing for a smaller school. Like Richmond or Toledo.

Again, the point I was making is we are not seeing the Clawson offense.

I will also remind everyone that it sometimes takes more than one season to install a new system.

But again this is a moot point he more than likely wont be at UT next season.
