Derek Barnett is special. He didn't get quite the preseason recognition I thought he should have, but I don't see many people doubting him at this point.

Tennessee Stats: Top 3 SACK ARTISTS in Tennessee history:
Reggie - 32.0
Leonard - 28.0
Derek - 26.0
Once in a generation you see talent like this! 🍊

This guy is so much fun to watch. You're watching the game and thinking we could really use a big play right now. And then boom, Barnett sacks the QB and forces a fumble. I think he has a long career in the NFL ahead of him.

He may break the record in the Tennessee Tech game alone...in the first half. (Hope we're far enough ahead to rest guys in the second half)

Barnett is a BEAST!! Has been since day 1 as a true freshman! He never leaves any doubt that he truly gives his all game in & game out. Appreciate all he has done for this program!!

Barnett is a force of nature on the playing field. I think he'll get the record this season, especially with our easier stretch coming up

Over the remaining 5 games, he should atleast get 7.5 or more sacks.... Easy.

Barnett is truly special--and should be 1st Team all-SEC beyond any shadow of a doubt.

However, I would like to ADD that Doug Atkins should never be left out of this discussion. Those who actually saw him play at UT list him as one of the greatest DL/DE to have EVER PLAYED!

They didn't keep sack statistics back when he played...or he'd probably be at the top of the list.

GO VOLS! WE still on track to be 10-2 and win the EAST!

:salute:

He actually doesn't seem to play his best against the TN Tech/App. St.'s of the world.

Good point, all sacks this year against SEC teams. I believe all but 3 of his career total have been against SEC teams.
