Let's back the poll up to at least the 80s. We can hardly put Brent on that list. He played 1 year...and I refuse to give James Banks any credit for anything...I'd rather see the G-Gun ....as bad as it was.

2000 - 2003 c clausen was primarily the starter
2004,2006, 2007 e Ainge was the primary guy
so 6 0f the 8 seasons since 2000 there have been 2 guys.

Because, honestly, none of them were really that great. Casey was servicable, and so was Ainge for a bit although neither were great. The others just sucked and didn't play much.

Clausen was anything but crap and Ainge had one really bad year, but I wouldn't call him crap either.

The guy who said Casey Clausen is crap should be banned from ever speaking again. Being second behind Peyton Manning in just about every category at UT sure is crappy. Ainge was awesome too. I believe in Ainge's final season the top three wide receivers on team put up more yards than any other teams top three wide receivers. Ainge was drafted... how many of those wide receivers leading that nation will be? None? Lucas Taylor couldn't even get drafted and he made huge improvements with his 40 time, vertical and bench. Ainge was a good quarterback imo.

Best UT QB's since I've been a serious spectator (1990):

1. Peyton Manning
2. Tee Martin
3. Casey Clausen
4. Heath Shuler
5. Erik Ainge

Honorable mention is Andy Kelly (who punted as well). People might go crazy that I put Clausen over Shuler, but Clausen has better career stats and a #4 finish, while Shuler never finished in the top 10. I never understood the hype about Shuler. Not that he wasn't good, but I'm surprised he was Heisman runner-up (especially since he played for a program that historically gets ignored by Heisman voters).

The problem with completely dismissing Schaeffer is that even though he was pretty much a bust as a college QB, there are a couple of games where it's pretty safe to say we lose if not for him.

no, the close 6th guy i'm thinking of is white. He just graduated. I can't remember his name...

but why on earth would you ever think I thought any of those other guys were white? OBVIOUSLY they are not white... :glare:
