I’m pumped he decided to return. Love this young man, and really looking forward to next season.
Now that bowl season is (mostly) over, these are the SEC’s top 5 QBs returning in 2022

2. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee
I’m all in. Yeah, it was a little off in the Music City Bowl. Look beyond the box score. Hooker would admit he missed throws. He wasn’t as crisp as he was at certain points during the regular season. He might not ever be a 75% passer. But he doesn’t need to do that in order to lead a top-10 offense for Josh Heupel.

Hooker still added more explosive plays than we’ve seen in recent memory in Knoxville. When he’s rolling, there aren’t many defenses that can disrupt him. He needs to continue to progress with his decision-making. He took too many sacks, and the deep ball can improve.

But Hooker is a legitimate star. Between his deadly head fake on keepers and his ability to drop that sideline deep throw into a bucket, there are countless Power 5 programs who are kicking themselves for not landing him in the transfer portal last year when he left Virginia Tech. It just took a year in Heupel’s offense for him to truly unlock his potential. With a full offseason with the first-teamers, we should see Hooker continue to progress and build on a banner 2021.

I thought Stetson Bennett should have been in top 5 as well as the UK QB Levis. Rattler could be good but he could turn USCe into a dumpster fire
I agree about Bennett, but the thing about him is that he's only as good as his surrounding cast is; but, fortunately for him, his surrounding cast is stellar. They underperformed against Bama in the SECG and got trucked. So that loss, I think, refocused the team and they ended up annihilating what was arguably Michigan's best team in years. Unless Kirby goes and pees down his leg (a la 2018) in the NC game, then UGA will win and we'll never hear the end of that stupid-ass barking at people thing that they do.

I think Levis is overall garbage.

I agree with you on Rattler. He could prove to be a turning point type QB, or he could further the implosion. I guess it depends on if he can mentally get out of his own way or not.

Rightful props, but think JH going to have to really hit the portal in the trenches. Think we risk being like many of our games this year. We come out in first quarter like gangbusters, but by Q2 teams start to settle in...or like that rookie pitcher who comes up on fire, but the second time around, they've scouted them out and know tendencies. Think we're going to have to start imposing our will more in the trenches to supplement Hooker's continued growth @ QB and skill positions. I think we're up for it...just keep building. The schedule sets up decently for us to elevate again next year, I think.

Yeah I agree, I mean we all know we need help in the trenches, DL priority, but Defense as whole more than anything. If they can get off the field (which they obviously currently can't), then the offense will be fine. Hooker is mobile enough (a la Josh Dobbs) to mask deficiencies in the OL play and when pass protection breaks down to make plays with his legs. He's gonna be fine.

Agree on this Smo. I think UGA kicks Bam’s a$$ in the championship game

I don’t understand the hype behind Rattler. He couldn’t cut it against Big 12 defenses with all of the weapons at Oklahoma. Is that really going to be easier at USCe?

Ironic that Okie QB Caleb Williams that beat out Rattler and shined in Bowl game is now in Transfer Portal.

How does Rattler “return” to a team that he’s never even seen before?
I was referring to Hooker, seeing as how this is a Tennessee fan board and I quoted the part about Hooker, but I thought that was obvious. I must’ve underestimated some people…. 🥴

Levis is more impressed with himself than anyone else is. He cannot hold a candle to Hooker!

Absolutely. Third and short and he keeps the ball instead of giving it to Rodriguz. Rod had a lead blocker and no one on the outside - he was gonna rip off a 10-12 yard run. Instead Levis keeps and cuts inside to get killed by both linebackers...4th down. My good friend is a Cat fan and he said that's his MO - in big situations he will always keep it to be the star. I know Rod plays for the wrong team but I like him - he's a tough dude.
