Got to love the fact that CJH and team are hammering the recruiting trail. #5 class (Georgia is #4 and Bama is #6)

Some great suprises like getting Legend Bey back in the fold and signing on the dotted line, right out of OSU's dirty clutches

Yes, I was not happy with how the season went, especially the Vandy game but gotta give a lot of credit to CJH team for going out and getting the talent we need to compete in an SEC that is getting more brutally competitive every year.

There were many years where we couldnt even sniff top 5 so I am going to take this and be happy. Now we need to raid that portal.

I'm stunned. I was just hoping to hold on to a top 10 class. I didn't know there was a path for us to jump up into the top 5.

Though I have been secretley hoping Savion Hiter would decommitt from Michigan and then committ to us the last few months. Now that I take a look, he has yet to sign the dotted line with Michigan, so there is hope!

Means very little. The portal is where the rubber meets the road. HS recruiting is where it's at.

Our roster was predominantly sophomores and freshmen, right? So, we add a dominant young class and our current guys level up a year, meaning we will have strong sophomores and juniors plus this group? One would think we’re a few portal pieces away from a three-year run that could build some momentum for the future.

Is it better to win the transfer portal or recruiting?
These days, the transfer portal. 100%. When have we had success w 18 year olds? You pay them for 2 years and then they leave you before they get meaningful reps. IMO, we need to allocate a lot more money to getting some jr and sr guys that can contribute Day 1.

Yes

Reality is you need to win at both.

You can occasionally get lighting in a bottle that will turn everything around from the portal but to have sustainable success IMO, you need the HS recruits so you can bring them up in the program and then fill in holes with portal. If you are just trying put it all on the portal like the pros do, you are going to be very inconsistent because they are too young still to really plug and play.

It also helps have a consistent team culture.

Sounds like a plan to me Hoss

Doing well in recruiting in no way means we will do badly in the porthole. Yes, I realize there are limits to the NIL pot of available money. And yet, I suspect our athletic dept. knows more about our budget/strategy than any of us kibbutzing, popcorn-eating, armchair experts.🤔

Gonna need way more than a few portal pieces for next year.
