Hoping to see a new album soon. Saw them live many times and they blow my mind everytime.

Danny Carey is the reason I picked up my first set of sticks 18 years ago. This guy is on a level above anyone who plays at the moment. But IMHO its true. No one has the chops that this guy has, alive or dead. Until I here someone with better chops let me know. You can throw out names until the cows come home but the best drummer who has ever graced the planet, I'm saying its Danny Carey fullstop. There would only be about 5 drummers that you could say this about and most of them have passed.

His 4 way coordination is unbelievable. I could practice all day everyday for the rest of my life and not even come close to his level.

One of my personal favorite bands. Started listening to them in high school, and finally seen them live after all these years last month. Loved every minute of it. He's a great drummer, but John Bonham is the greatest drummer to grace the planet. Adam Jones is very under rated as a guitarist, and Justin Chancellor is probably one of the best bass players right now. As far as bands right now Mastodon is up there with them.

Also heard on xm the other day they said that tool was going to be working on the new album this summer. They have never had a bad one IMO.

I agree. They have never even come close to putting out subpar content. As mysterious and distant that they are as individuals it is obvious that they put a lot of thought and energy into every facet of their craft.

As mentioned earlier, they have one of the best drummers to ever set foot on the planet in Carey. Jones is by far not the best technical guitarist you will ever hear but you will never mistake his undeniable unique tone and style. And then you have Maynard, the ultimate freak of the show. He definitely carries their freak flag very well.

You guys ever listen to Maynard's side projects? I'm sure A Perfect Circle, but what about Puscifer? Their latest album is really good.

APC is pretty good; Pusifer I've only listened to a few songs and it's ok but not really my favorite.

I'd love a new Tool album; hard to believe it's been 6 years since their last one.

Schism, 46 & 2 and Aenima are all songs I like alot. I will have to add that a lot of Tool's fans are pretentious as all hell.

Just saw them in ATL in Feb. It. was. AWESOME!

Not their song, but they do a cover of No Quarter by Led Zepplin (I believe)...it's pure fawkin' rock n roll...love it.

I saw that they did a few shows over the winter. Did Maynard stay tucked back by Carey?

First time I saw them was in Memphis in 96. Maynard came dressed up like a clown slash George Washington. He ranted about the Price of Mountain Dew and said that Jimmy Stewart Shot Kennedy. He ended up cracking himself up.

Remember in 2001 seeing them at the Mid South Colisium. He gave a nice memorial for Andy Kaufman.

Nothing like seeing Tool Live.

Danny is the best polyrhythmic drummer ever IMO. Peart, Portnoy, and Rich cant touch him.

I have been a drummer for nearly 18 years, I trained in jazz drumming so im used to irregular, uncommon time signatures, and polyrhythms is my passion, but it took me over a YEAR to perfect this polyrhthm. He must have been born with a metronome in his head lol

Danny Carey - Lateralus 3 - YouTube!

He is playing 5/4 over the basses 3/4, the guitar plays a waltz. The effect is jarring but intriguingly layered.

I was lucky enough to experience a Tool concert in 2006 at the Desoto Civic Center. It was exceptional. Maynard hid himself in the back and wore a diaper with a cowboy hat on...really random and weird. But the show rocked.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tool in concert. Hope their new album is worth listening to.
