I too am excited about the RBs but regardless of what anybody thinks we will try to throw the ball downfield.

I've been pulling for Hardesty, but man Creer was impressive last season in spots. I would like to see him get a majority of the touches. Oku & Brown will be fine, but not right away.

As others have said, Williams will either be a fb or short-yardage back.
Hardesty will be hurt at some point this season and the injury will linger. Its inevitable.

I think Creer, Brown, and Oku will get most of the carries. You guys have got to know that Kiffin recruited Oku and Brown by telling them they will play.

Most likely one will emerge as better then the others, or we end up with RB by committee, either way I see it as a plus. RB's have a tendency to get bruised up/injured anyway.

Running back by committee is not as bad as QBs by committee. As a matter of fact having a one two punch combo is sometimes the recipe for success,

You can never have too many top RBs----UT will be able to rotate fresh backs the whole game.

I hope BB and Oku will eventually complement each other, ala Darren McFadden and Felix Jones did at Arkansas. Different style offense, but similar backs, imo!

Now before anyone starts trashing me in noway am i saying we shouldnt have got Oku or Brown!

But does anyone think we have to many RB's on this team?

Hardesty ( Senior )
Creer ( Junior )
Poole ( Sophomore )
T. Williams ( FRESHMAN )
Oku ( FRESHMAN )
Brown ( FRESHMAN )
C.J. Jackson ( FRESHMAN )

Thats alot of Freshman running backs needed to share one ball. Does anyone get redshirted & does anyone end up transferring?

yes and yes. I'd look for Poole,Williams,CJ to transfer. Creer,Hardesty,Brown and Oku? wow thats like 4 starting sec rbs right there. :dance2:

1st, to a previous poster, HELL NO! Don't redshirt Brown! Ask UGA how they feel about redshirting Moreno now. No player with potential to leave early should be redshirted.
2nd, I don't think there is any way Kiffin guaranteed play time to either Oku or Brown. I am however very positive that he told them both they would have the opportunity to earn play time on day 1. He has made it quite clear that no one, including Berry, has a spot. It will be earned in practice. I can't see him making that point as often as he has and then turning around and promising recruits play time. I imagine he told Brown and maybe Oku that they certainly have the potential to earn said playing time.

not a UT basketball fan, but I'd feel awful. UT would get the death sentence in basketball if they signed James now.
Man, I respect your ability to compartmentalize. I was'nt a CPF fan, but I was a Vol football fan. I was'nt a Buzz OR Green fan, but I was a Vol BBall fan. I have'nt been a fan of any Baseball coach, but I'm a Vol Baseball fan. I assume that you are'nt a BBall fan because of Pearl. I don't seem to have that choice. For me, it's Vols first, PERIOD. Are you sure that you are REALLY a Vol fan?? Maybe you just THINK you are a Vol fan because you hangout with alot of them. Have you ever kissed a Vol. When you get excited and close your eyes do you picture the Vols winning? Do you dress like a Vol? It's probably just a phase. You'll wake up one day a Tiger High fan with a pretty little Tigeress laying next to you purring,.....a bunch of cubs running around your den. Then you'll know you were never REALLY a Vol. It was all just "part of growing up". :eek:lol:

Poole is the guy I would imagine might have the most thoughts of transferring. I hope he sticks it out and gives us depth after Hardesty graduates especially, but I can see him thinking Creer/Brown/Oku will end up with the majority of carries and he might have better luck moving somewhere else.

yeah tauren came home here last weekend i saw him at applebees hes doesnt seem upset he just talked about how he would really have to work and that brown and oku got 3 other running backs to beat on the depth charts he stayed positive and said if he was a special teams player for the rest of his college career thats ok he was appreciative that the university of tennessee gave him a college education but dont count him out. he said i know i gotta work extra hard. and anothe rthing he loves eddie gran

Williams more than likely ends up a FB but if he stays at RB he brings a dimension only BB has out of the others- power.

Creer may be better than Oku. He was set to be one of the top ranked backs in the nation before he suffered a slow healing injury.

But to answer the OP, NO. UT does not have too many RB's. Hardesty is a Sr, Creer a Jr. Not only does UT not have too many now, they really need to add one or two quality RB's next year.

Jackson is a walk-on playing on the scout team, right? If he wanted to play elsewhere then he probably would have started out there.

Finally, we have no idea whether Poole, BB, or Oku will bust or not.
